We have established ourselves as a trusted leader in the industry with two decades of expertise in developing and deploying technical specifications and interoperability solutions. As a rapidly growing distributed, employee-owned company, we hire exceptional talent nationwide and offer flexible remote work arrangements. We take pride in our mission to improve public health and quality of care.

Primary purpose: The HR Generalist is a hands-on, experienced HR professional who supports employees and managers across the full employee lifecycle. Reporting directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), this role works collaboratively with a small HR team to deliver accurate, consistent, and responsive HR services across the organization.

The HR Generalist serves as a trusted resource in areas including payroll, employee relations, benefits and leave administration, performance management, policies and compliance, recruiting and onboarding, compensation, and HR reporting. This position also supports the implementation and continuous improvement of HR programs, systems, processes, and practices.

A successful candidate will do the following:

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employees and managers on HR-related matters, including policies, benefits, leave programs, performance management, and employee relations
  • Provide practical guidance and support to managers on day-to-day employee matters, including development conversations, performance feedback, and corrective action
  • Conduct and support employee relations inquiries and workplace investigations, ensuring concerns are addressed consistently, objectively, and in accordance with company policies and applicable employment laws
  • Build trust by handling sensitive employee matters with discretion, fairness, and integrity
  • Support the administration of employee benefits programs, including health and welfare plans and open enrollment; help ensure compliance; and work closely with brokers and third-party vendors
  • Administer accurate and timely payroll through Paylocity, including processing employee changes, earnings, deductions, reimbursements, bonuses, and benefit deductions; auditing payroll before submission; resolving discrepancies; and coordinating required approvals
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to support hiring efforts and ensure a consistent and positive experience for candidates and new hires
  • Conduct exit interviews and coordinate offboarding processes to gather insights and support continuous improvement
  • Assist in the design, maintenance, and ongoing refinement of job descriptions, job-leveling frameworks, and compensation structures in alignment with company standards and legal requirements
  • Support the performance review process by providing tools, guidance, and training to managers and employees
  • Coordinate and support training related to performance management, manager effectiveness, compliance and employee engagement
  • Ensure HR programs, practices, and documentation comply with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Monitor changes in employment laws and regulations and recommend updates to policies and procedures to maintain organizational compliance
  • Prepare and analyze HR reports and workforce data to identify trends, support decision-making, and recommend opportunities for process and program improvements
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR processes, templates, programs, and resources across the organization
  • Collaborate with members of the HR team to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery of HR services across the organization
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive HR experience supporting managers and employees in areas such as payroll, employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, compliance, and HR operations
  • Strong knowledge of HR best practices, federal and state employment laws, and the full employee lifecycle
  • Demonstrated experience processing and auditing payroll through an HRIS or payroll platform, including employee changes, earnings, deductions, reimbursements, and payroll corrections
  • Experience using an HRIS to support core HR functions, including onboarding, benefits administration, performance management, reporting, and employee data management.
  • Sound judgment and discretion, with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to build trust and effective working relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work effectively in a distributed, remote environment while collaborating with HR team members and cross-functional partners

Preferred qualifications:
