Melds in Fletcher, NC seeks a bilingual HR Generalist to support day-to-day people operations and safety at its Asheville-area manufacturing facility. This onsite role partners with leadership to handle full-cycle HR and drive OSHA-compliant safety programs and training.

You will manage recruitment, staffing, employee relations, performance management, and policy documentation while maintaining HRIS records and supporting payroll and benefits as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Safety, or related field.
• 3+ years HR and/or safety in a manufacturing environment.
• Fluency in English and Spanish.
• Experience with HRIS and safety recordkeeping.
• Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

Job description

Melds is seeking a proactive, bilingual Human Resources Generalist (English/Spanish) to support day-to-day people operations and workplace safety at its Asheville-area manufacturing facility. This in-person role partners closely with leadership to handle full-cycle HR responsibilities while driving safety programs and procedures in line with OSHA and other applicable regulations.

Role overview

In this position, you will manage core HR functions, support managers and employees, and help maintain a respectful, legally compliant workplace. You will also develop, implement, and continuously improve safety practices, including training, inspections, incident investigations, and documentation that supports compliance and risk reduction.

Key responsibilities

• Lead full-cycle recruitment, from job postings through new hire orientation.
• Monitor manpower rosters and collaborate with department leads to meet staffing needs.
• Serve as a resource for employee questions and support.
• Manage conflict resolution and handle terminations.
• Oversee performance management programs, including coaching and feedback sessions.
• Coordinate employee training and development initiatives.
• Act as backup for benefits enrollment and assist with benefit-related inquiries as needed.
• Act as backup for payroll processing and attendance tracking.
• Maintain accurate employee records in the HRIS system and generate reports for management.
• Ensure adherence to employment laws and HR policies by updating documentation and educating employees accordingly.
• Promote wellness and engagement initiatives to support a positive work environment.
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve safety programs and procedures to comply with OSHA, state, and federal regulations.
• Conduct routine inspections and safety audits to identify and correct workplace hazards.
• Investigate workplace incidents and near-misses, determine root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Lead safety training covering emergency procedures, PPE usage, hazard communication, and more.
• Collaborate with managers to build a culture of safety awareness across the organization.
• Maintain documentation for inspections, incidents, safety meetings, and training sessions, and stay current on evolving safety regulations and best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Occupational Health & Safety, Business, or a related field.
• 3+ years of progressive experience in HR and/or safety within a manufacturing environment.
• Fluency in both English and Spanish.
• Strong understanding of employment law, OSHA regulations, and safety standards.
• Experience with HRIS systems and safety recordkeeping.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lead training sessions and engage employees at all levels.
• Ethical, adaptable, and highly organized.

Work location

Onsite at 282 Cane Creek Road, Fletcher, NC 28732. This position will report to the Director of Human Resources.
