REBEL Convenience Stores HR Generalist provides proactive human resources support for our retail operation members in training, recruitment, employee relations and benefits, delivering policy interpretation and guidance on program implementation across the region.

The role emphasizes employee relations and safety/risk management, handling investigations, leave administration (FMLA/ADA), termination procedures, performance coaching, and recruitment support, with a focus on data-driven HR

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of HR experience in a high-volume employee relations setting with 500+ employees.
  • Bachelor's Degree in HR or related field, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Experience handling FMLA and leave administration.
  • PHR/SHRM-CP certification preferred.
  • Retail experience is required.
  • Knowledge of state and federal labor and employment laws.

Responsibilities

  • Coach and advise management on employee relations, safety, and risk management.
  • Monitor counseling, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement plans; oversee termination procedures and documentation.
  • Assist with leave documentation and ADA accommodations; manage related investigations.
  • Investigate employee relations issues and conduct sensitive inquiries as needed.
  • Represent the organization at unemployment hearings and workers' compensation matters.
  • Provide recruitment support and assist with interviewing and meetings.
  • Develop and drive HR analytics reports for management.

Job description

The HR Generalist provides proactive human resources support for our retail operation members in various areas including training, recruitment, employee relations and benefits. The HR Generalist manages the delivery of our HR policies, executing business specific projects and initiatives relating to human resources decisions, safety programs, and company procedures. Provides support for management teams and associates by answering non-routine requests for information on policy interpretation, providing advice and counsel on employee issues and implementing practices and programs in support their regionally assigned area. This role has a strong employee relations and safety/risk management focus for the organization.

What You'll Do
  • Coaches and advises all levels of management in the areas of employee relations, workers compensation & risk management/safety support.
  • Monitor employee counseling, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement plans; oversees involuntary termination procedures; and approves employee separation notices and related documentation. May conduct exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
  • Works with employees to provide direction and assistance on documentation for leave related matters; specifically, FMLA, Workers Comp, Safety and ADA accommodations within the workplace.
  • Mediates and resolves employee relations issues; conducts thorough and objective investigations when necessary; especially highly sensitive issues of sexual harassment and discrimination.
  • Represent organization at unemployment hearings and workers' compensation settlements, as needed.
  • Provide recruitment support to any hiring managers in the organization.
  • Support facilitating interviews and other various meetings such as performance appraisal meetings.
  • Perform periodic training and audits
  • Develop and drive analytical reports for managers in HR Department.
  • Assist the ER Manager in reviewing all reports, accident data, and audits to evaluate the future needs for ER improvements
  • Assist with the modification and/or new development of policies and procedures including employee handbooks and policies.
  • Assist in ER investigations and documentation.
  • Assists with various Human Resource projects as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Requirements
What You Bring
  • Minimum 2-3 years of human resources experience in a high-volume employee relations setting with at least 500+ employees.
  • Bachelor's Degree in HR, Applied Behavioral Sciences, Industrial Relations or another relevant field, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Most possess a strong background managing complex employee relations investigations and resolving potential company litigation issues.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with employees, leadership and external contacts.
  • Previous experience working with FMLA, and/or leave administration as a primary point of contact.
  • PHR/ SHRM-CP Certification preferred.
  • Prior experience working in Retail is required
  • Knowledge of current employee relations practices, as well as State & Federal labor & employment law
  • Must be results driven and provide a high quality of work
  • Must have Microsoft Office experience, specifically Outlook, Word and Excel and Teams
  • Must be able to prioritize workload and multi-task assignments when facing a deadline
  • May be required to work evenings or weekends, as business demands dictate
  • Previous experience working with Kronos is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including large group presentations
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to self-monitor in terms of meeting deadlines and working with little supervision
