HR Generalists may have a greater concentration of responsibilities within specific areas based on team needs, experience, and professional development, while continuing to develop broad knowledge across the HR function.
Job Responsibilities
- Support employee lifecycle activities, including onboarding, employee changes, salary changes, performance processes, leaves, and terminations, ensuring information is processed accurately and timely. Regularly review data to help ensure accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality.
- Assist with the administration of employee benefit programs, including processing employee changes, reviewing data, responding to employee questions, performing bill reconciliation and coordinating with benefit vendors.
- Support the administration of the Firm’s leave of absence programs, including guiding employees through the leave process, coordinating required documentation, tracking leaves and communicating with employees and managers regarding leave requirements and status.Research and apply federal, state, and local leave requirements, escalating complex situation as appropriate.
- Assist with Compensation activities, including maintaining job descriptions, job matching, market pricing, salary research, compensation reviews, and bonus processes.
- Assist with ESOP and 401(k) activities, including data preparation, testing, audits, employee communications, and general program administration.
- Support performance management, employee engagement, training, orientations, and other HR programs, including coordinating related activities and employee communications.
- Maintain HR resources and materials, including forms, procedures, policies, employee communications and HR SharePoint content.
- Provide administrative, analytical, and project support across the HR function as needs and priorities evolve, maintaining confidentiality and exercising discretion with employee and Firm information.
Education and Work Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance or a related field preferred.
Work Experience
- 2+ years of Human Resources or related experience.
- Experience supporting HR operations or employee programs preferred.
- Exposure to areas such as Compensation, Benefits, HRIS, payroll, or employee programs is a plus.’ experience providing analytical support in a related area.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Foundational knowledge of Human Resources practices, employee lifecycle processes, and employment regulations, with an interest in developing knowledge of federal, state, and local leave requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
- Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills with an interest in learning how to research and resolve HR-related questions.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills and an interest in developing stronger HR reporting and analytical capabilities.
- Ability to learn new HR systems, processes, and programs quickly.
- Prior experience with ADP Workforce Now and Vantagepoint/Deltek preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with employees, managers, teammates, and external vendors.
- Strong customer-service orientation and a willingness to assist employees and HR team members across a variety of needs.
- Self-motivated, curious, adaptable, and willing to learn new areas of Human Resources.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment where priorities and assignments may change.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
