Job description

The Human Resources Generalist plays a key role in supporting employees and management across a variety of HR functions. This position is responsible for employee relations, policy interpretation, HRIS (ADP) administration, and coordination with Finance to ensure accurate employee data. The HR Generalist contributes to a positive workplace culture and supports continuous improvement in HR practices.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional HR experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of professional HR experience required.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems (ADP preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of current employment laws and HR best practices.
  • High level of confidentiality and discretion.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Positive, flexible, and proactive attitude.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written formats.
  • Capacity to participate in meetings with sustained attention.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and operate a computer and related equipment.
  • Normal hearing and vision required for communication and job duties.
  • Ability to move safely throughout the work environment.
  • Must be able to respond appropriately to emergencies and exercise sound judgment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as a strategic partner within the HR team, aligning HR support with organizational goals.
  • Coordinate and facilitate new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Interpret and administer HR policies and procedures consistently and accurately.
  • Identify and implement process improvements in HR systems and workflows.
  • Provide training on ADP, Outlook, and other relevant systems.
  • Support administration of compensation, benefits, retirement plans, and leave programs.
  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and employee lifecycle processes.
  • Analyze HR metrics such as turnover and engagement survey results.
  • Maintain and update employee personnel files and HR records.
  • Conduct reference checks, background screenings, and pre‑employment processes.
  • Manage COBRA notifications and payments.
  • Audit monthly insurance billing and maintain retirement plan documentation.
  • Coordinate Workers’ Compensation claims and OSHA reporting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Workforce Development or agency leadership.
