Principal Recruiter at The Phoenix Group

Our client, a global law firm, is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join their team in NYC!

Responsibilities:

Recruitment, Onboarding & Offboarding

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment efforts, including job postings, resume review, interview scheduling, and offer processing.
  • Lead new hire orientation and ensure a seamless onboarding experience.
  • Administer the offboarding process, conduct exit interviews, and ensure adherence to firm protocols.

Benefits Administration

  • Coordinate benefits processes such as new hire enrollment, open enrollment periods, and employee education initiatives.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for benefits-related inquiries and resolve issues with carriers and claims.
  • Oversee benefits billing, reconcile discrepancies, and partner with payroll to ensure data accuracy.
  • Organize firmwide health and wellness initiatives including flu shots, blood drives, and CPR/First Aid training.

HR Systems & Reporting

  • Maintain and update HRIS records; produce scheduled and ad-hoc HR reports.
  • Process employment verifications and manage I-9 documentation using E-Verify.
  • Prepare HR documentation for attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline HR processes and enhance compliance.

Compliance

  • Ensure firm practices comply with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Maintain organized and legally compliant employee records.
  • Support audits and prepare regulatory filings, including EEO-1 and ACA reports.

Employee Relations

  • Provide employees with guidance on HR policies and procedures.
  • Address workplace concerns and facilitate resolutions, escalating complex matters when needed.

Performance Management

  • Support performance management cycles, including evaluations, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
  • Maintain performance documentation and track follow-up actions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Proficiency in HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and sound judgment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, and willingness to take on diverse HR responsibilities.
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification is preferred.
