Express Employment Professionals West Des Moines, IA is seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist to own day-to-day HR functions and serve as a resource for employees and leadership. This hands-on role spans recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, benefits, compliance, performance management, and HR process development.

The ideal candidate is approachable, organized, and comfortable working independently in a growing environment where HR practices are strengthened.

Qualifications

• HR Generalist with hands-on experience across recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, and benefits administration.
• Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
• Experience with HRIS/payroll systems and maintaining employee records.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills; ability to handle confidential matters.

Responsibilities

• Lead recruiting efforts for various roles across the organization.
• Coordinate onboarding and create a positive new-hire experience.
• Maintain employee records and HR system information.
• Support benefits administration and respond to employee questions.
• Partner with managers on employee relations, performance coaching and development.
• Ensure practices comply with employment laws and company policies.
• Coordinate workers' compensation, unemployment and leave processes.
• Assist with payroll and timekeeping as needed.
• Help develop employee engagement and recognition initiatives.
• Track HR data and provide reports to leadership.
• Identify opportunities to improve HR processes as the company grows.
