We're looking for an experienced Human Resources Generalist to serve as a key HR partner at the plant level. This is a hands-on role supporting employees and leaders across the facility while partnering closely with Corporate Human Resources. The HR Generalist will support the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, performance management, training and development, HR compliance, safety and workers' compensation, HRIS administration, and workforce planning. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being visible and engaged within a manufacturing environment, building strong relationships with employees and leaders, and balancing day-to-day HR support with broader people initiatives that strengthen engagement, retention, compliance, and operational performance.
What You'll Do
- Serve as a trusted HR partner to plant leadership and employees, providing guidance on employee relations, performance management, policies, and workforce matters.
- Partner with the company recruiter to support hiring, interviews, pre-employment activities, and new hire onboarding.
- Manage employee relations matters, including workplace concerns, investigations, documentation, corrective actions, and escalation of complex issues to Corporate HR.
- Coach plant leaders on performance management, employee feedback, performance improvement, and effective people practices.
- Interpret and apply company policies, handbook guidelines, and applicable state and federal employment laws.
- Coordinate new hire orientation, employee documentation, open enrollment, and training and development programs for hourly employees.
- Partner with leadership to strengthen employee engagement, morale, productivity, retention, and positive workplace relationships.
- Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data, and analyze workforce trends to support business and workforce planning.
- Support HR audits, required workplace postings, compliance documentation, and regulatory requirements, including FMLA, workers' compensation, EEO, and OSHA.
- Support plant health and safety programs and manage workplace injury, illness, and incident reporting, including return-to-work coordination and case management.
- Maintain the plant organizational chart and support organizational design and workforce planning initiatives.
- Provide leadership and support to administrative staff through a dotted-line reporting relationship.
- Participate in HR initiatives, meetings, training programs, and special projects that support plant and business objectives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- 4+ years of Human Resources experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Broad knowledge of HR practices, including employee relations, performance management, employment law, compliance, and other core HR disciplines.
- Working knowledge of FMLA, workers' compensation, EEO, OSHA, and applicable state and federal employment regulations.
- Hands-on experience addressing employee relations concerns and conducting thorough, objective workplace investigations.
- Experience supporting hourly employees and front-line leadership within a plant or manufacturing environment.
- Experience coaching and advising supervisors and managers on employee performance, corrective action, and day-to-day people matters.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience maintaining accurate HR documentation, employee records, and compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret HR data, identify workforce trends, and support business decisions.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with a high level of professionalism, discretion, and integrity.
- SPHR or similar Human Resources certification preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Experience with HRIS and payroll systems; ADP experience is preferred.
