Job summary

Habasit is seeking a hands-on HR Generalist to support a broad range of HR operations at our Middletown, CT location. You will act as the first contact for employee inquiries, manage recruitment activities, and administer HRIS data entry and files in compliance with laws and company policies.

In this role you will help drive performance reviews, talent development, and engagement initiatives while coordinating training and delivering HR analytics to guide leadership decisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Psychology, HR, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in HR disciplines supporting both white and blue collar environments.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws including EEO, FLSA, FMLA, and ADA.
  • Proven ability to manage projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee inquiries related to HR policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Support recruitment efforts including posting jobs, screening resumes, coordinating interviews, and onboarding new hires.
  • Administer HRIS data entry and employee file maintenance in line with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Oversee employee relations by resolving issues and conducting preliminary investigations as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Partner with managers to facilitate performance reviews, talent development plans, and employee engagement activities.
  • Support training initiatives and coordinate learning and development programs.
  • Generate regular HR metrics and analytics to guide decision-making.
  • Guide managers and employees on HR policies to ensure legal and company compliance (FMLA, ADA, EEOC, etc.).
  • Act as a change advocate on companywide strategies and initiatives.
  • Perform core HR functions such as onboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, and offboarding.
  • Assist Safety Team for site-related activities (workers' compensation, incident investigations, safety committees).

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

The HR Generalist is a key member of the Human Resources team responsible for delivering a broad range of HR support and services. This role will contribute to day-to-day HR operations, support talent management initiatives, and ensure compliance with employment laws and internal policies. The HR Generalist partners closely with employees and managers to foster a positive and productive work environment.

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee inquiries related to HR policies, procedures, and programs
  • Support recruitment efforts including posting jobs, screening resumes, coordinating interviews, and onboarding new hires
  • Administer HRIS data entry and employee file maintenance in accordance with company policies and legal requirements
  • Oversee employee relations by resolving issues and conducting preliminary investigations as needed
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommend best practices
  • Partner with managers to facilitate performance reviews, talent development plans, and employee engagement activities
  • Support training initiatives and help coordinate learning and development programs
  • Generate regular reports on HR metrics and analytics to guide decision-making
  • Guides, trains, and directs managers and employees on the implementation of HR policies and processes to ensure appropriate legal (FMLA, ADA, EEOC, etc.) and company compliance.
  • Anticipates and responds to changing business needs and serves as a change advocate/agent on companywide strategies and initiatives.
  • Performs core HR functions such as Onboarding, Benefits Administration, Employee Relations, Offboarding, etc.
  • Serves as an extension of the Safety Team for the assigned site(s) (workers compensation, incidents investigation, safety committee, etc.)

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. At times, due to projects or work assignments, employee will need to coordinate and direct a team in order to meet/satisfy individual/company objectives.

Work Environment:

This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. At times, employee might be exposed to

manufacturing environment, including forklift traffic, fumes, noise, and operating manufacturing equipment.

Physical Demands:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM. In order to meet our customer demands and internal objectives, at times this role will be required to work outside of the normal schedule, including weekends.

Travel:

No overnight travel is expected for this position. There may be occasional local day travel or overnight travel as it related to training activities or support of assigned plants/locations.

Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Psychology, Human Resources, or equivalent work experience and/or education.
  • Minimum of 3 years' of progressive experience in HR disciplines supporting both white and blue collar environments.
  • Demonstrated general knowledge of all HR disciplines with more specific technical knowledge of several including employee relations and talent acquisition and workforce planning.
  • Proven ability to think critically, diagnose a problem and identify and drive appropriate solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, manage projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment, balancing multiple priorities and objectives.
  • Proven communication and effective relationship building skills.
  • Expertise in federal, state, and local employment, wage, and salary laws and regulations, including, but not limited to, EEO, FLSA, FMLA, and ADA.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite applications.
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • HR certification such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, etc.
  • Manufacturing experience preferred.
