Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible human resources experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, Organizational Development, or related field (or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO).
  • Proficient with HRIS, ATS, and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Screen applications, schedule interviews, and conduct preliminary assessments.
  • Coordinate new hire orientation, onboarding workflows, and pre-employment screening.
  • Serve as primary contact for employee questions and maintain engagement.
  • Assist with benefits enrollments and open enrollment activities.
  • Administer leave programs in compliance with FMLA/ADA.

Job description

We are seeking an HR Generalist who will be supporting the daily operations of the Human Resources Department by administering core HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, performance management, onboarding, training, policy compliance, and personnel records management. They will serve as a key resource for employees and managers, ensuring consistent application of organizational policies, employment laws, and best practices. They will maintain employee records in the HRIS, generates workforce analytics, and fosters a positive workplace culture while adhering to strict confidentiality and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Screen job applications, schedule interviews, and conduct preliminary candidate assessments to support departmental staffing needs.
  • Coordinate and facilitate new hire orientation, pre-employment screening activities, and onboarding workflows.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee questions and concerns while promoting positive employee engagement and workplace culture.
  • Assist employees with benefits enrollments and status changes, coordinate annual open enrollment activities, and liaise with benefits providers and vendors.
  • Administer organizational leave programs, ensuring full compliance with FMLA, ADA accommodations, and related leave policies.
  • Support annual performance evaluation processes and assist managers with employee development plans and coaching strategies.
  • Coordinate employee training programs and professional development initiatives while maintaining accurate training records and compliance documentation.
  • Ensure organizational adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, and EEO requirements.
  • Assist with the formulation, implementation, and clear communication of organizational HR policies and operational procedures.
  • Maintain confidential personnel files, employment documentation, and HR records in strict accordance with legal requirements.
  • Maintain accurate employee information within the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and applicant tracking systems (ATS).
  • Generate routine workforce reports, analyze employment metrics, and prepare documentation for HR compliance audits.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible human resources experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, and EEO requirements.
  • Proficient with HRIS platforms, Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities paired with strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality, handle sensitive information, manage multiple priorities, and maintain high attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, and HR compliance preferred.
  • Hands-on experience utilizing ADP systems for HRIS and record management.
  • Previous Human Resources experience within the public sector or municipal government environments.
  • Active professional HR certification, such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR.
