Conexus is partnering with a multi-location consumer services organization in Los Angeles to identify a Director of Human Resources to lead its HR function.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR leader who enjoys being close to the business and is equally comfortable setting strategy, coaching leaders, developing an HR team, and rolling up their sleeves to solve day-to-day people challenges.
The organization has a diverse employee population across multiple locations and operating environments. The Director of HR will serve as a trusted partner to executive leadership while providing hands-on leadership across employee relations, compliance, talent acquisition, performance management, workplace safety, compensation and benefits, and HR operations.
What You'll Do
- Serve as a strategic HR partner to executive leadership and operational leaders across the organization.
- Lead and develop the HR team, creating a responsive, service-oriented HR function.
- Oversee HR programs and practices supporting a workforce of 500+ employees across multiple locations.
- Lead complex employee relations matters, workplace investigations, corrective actions, and conflict resolution.
- Ensure compliance with California employment law and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Partner closely with Operations and other functional leaders on workforce planning, organizational needs, and business priorities.
- Oversee talent acquisition, performance management, compensation, benefits, training, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Provide leadership around workplace safety, workers' compensation, return-to-work programs, and risk management.
- Develop and improve HR policies, processes, programs, and infrastructure to support the continued growth of the organization.
- Leverage HR metrics and workforce data to identify trends, mitigate risk, and improve organizational effectiveness.
What We're Looking For
- 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 5 years in an HR leadership capacity.
- Demonstrated success leading HR in a multi-location, operationally intensive environment.
- Strong knowledge of California employment law, employee relations, compliance, and workplace investigations.
- Experience supporting a large hourly/non-exempt employee population.
- A hands-on leadership style and willingness to stay close to employees and operations.
- Strong executive presence combined with the ability to build credibility at all levels of an organization.
- Experience leading and developing an HR team.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
Requirements:
- Experience within hospitality, restaurants, food & beverage, multi-unit environment
- Experience with workplace safety, workers' compensation, OSHA/Cal-OSHA, and risk management is also highly valuable.
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now is preferred, as is SHRM or HRCI certification.
