The Role

DK Law is seeking a strategic, hands‑on HR Director to lead and elevate our human resources function during a period of rapid growth and operational evolution. This role is ideal for a modern HR leader who thrives in fast‑paced environments, understands how to balance strategy with execution, and is passionate about building scalable people operations that support a high‑performance culture.

Reporting to the Vice President People and Culture, the Director of People and Culture is

a pivotal leader responsible for aligning HR initiatives with operational and strategic goals.

This leader translates HR strategy into repeatable, compliant, and efficient operations while ensuring systems, workflows, and analytics support business growth and decision‑making. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to leadership while also rolling up their sleeves to improve workflows, optimise HR technology, and strengthen the employee experience across the organization.

The ideal candidate is analytical, emotionally intelligent, operationally strong, and excited by innovation, including the use of AI and automation to improve HR processes and workforce effectiveness.

Strategic HR Partnership
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders and employees, guiding the execution of HR programs, processes, communications, and strategic initiatives. Develop strong partnerships oversee leadership development, talent management, staff engagement, and retention.
  • Partner with talent acquisition organization to identify and attract top external talent to key leadership roles.
  • Plan, and implement HR process and tools in support of HR initiatives and business objectives.
  • Anticipate workforce needs and potential challenges (e.g., staffing shortages, employee retention, compliance) and develop integrated HR solutions.
  • Shape and foster a high‑performing and highly engaged culture.
  • Have a growth mindset and learn about new technologies to help shape the talent strategy within the Technology organization and understand the impact of AI on Human + Agentic workforces.
Employee Relations & Compliance
  • Coach and develop leaders on recognition, feedback and organisational strategy.
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues, conducting thorough investigations and providing guidance consistent with company policy and relevant legislation.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Manage HR‑related audits and ensure accurate record‑keeping.
  • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures that mitigate risk and promote a safe and ethical workplace.
  • Mentor leaders and provide guidance on employee discipline and performance management.
  • Provide guidance to HR and management on salary structure, pay decisions, policy, guidelines interpretation, and job evaluations.
  • Lead annual performance management planning exercise (merit, market adjustments), promotions, bonus, and review processes, including development of recommendations according to employee segmentation (site, function, position), verification of spend to budget, and communications.
  • In conjunction with VP, People and Culture, develop and communicate compensation programmes, including base pay, incentives, and pay‑for‑performance strategies, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and market trends, compensation philosophy and incentives for employees.
  • Monitor and ensure internal pay equity and regulatory compliance with FLSA, DOL and other federal/state requirements.
  • Oversee total rewards, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, benefits, and retirement plans.
HR Data Systems & Analytics
  • Combine data and people insights to coach and guide clients on HR and business‑related issues to shape and affect positive change in the organisation, including strategy, team/organisation effectiveness, and workforce planning.
  • Generate reports and analyse HR data and trends; translate data to simple language.
  • Provide oversight and management direction for our HRIS systems (Primarily Rippling along with a variety of peripheral supporting systems).
  • Develop and provide on‑going suite of HR metrics and workflows to track both functional performance and enterprise‑level people trends.
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or related field required.
  • Master’s degree, MBA, SHRM, or PHR certification preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Minimum 3 years managing and developing HR team members.
  • Strong experience supporting both hourly and salaried workforces in multi‑state environments.
  • Deep understanding of employee relations, compliance, compensation, benefits, and HR operations.
  • Proven experience with HRIS systems and HR analytics; Rippling experience strongly preferred.
  • Advanced Excel and reporting skills including pivot tables, lookups, formulas, and data analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of California employment law and HR best practices.
  • Experience managing performance management cycles, compensation planning, and total rewards programmes.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Highly analytical with the ability to interpret HR data and turn insights into actionable strategies.
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment with evolving priorities.
  • Strong project management and change management capabilities.
  • Technologically savvy with a growth mindset and interest in innovative HR solutions and AI‑driven efficiencies.
  • Must be willing to work hands‑on and operationally while also thinking strategically.
