We are seeking an experienced HR Director for a small Professional Services client on the west side.
This is a highly hands‑on role for someone who can operate strategically with senior leadership while also rolling up their sleeves to execute across the full HR function. The ideal candidate will bring strong business acumen, sound HR judgment, and the ability to build structure and processes in a growing professional services environment. This person will serve as a trusted partner to the leadership team while owning the execution of HR programs, policies, systems, and employee initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute an HR strategy aligned with the company’s business objectives and growth plans.
- Partner with the CEO and leadership team on organizational planning, talent strategy, culture, and employee engagement.
- Assess current HR practices and infrastructure and identify opportunities to improve consistency, efficiency, and scalability.
- Establish HR priorities, policies, and processes appropriate for a growing professional services organization.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on employee, organizational, and people‑related matters.
Hands‑On HR Operations
- Own day‑to‑day HR operations across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, performance management, employee relations, compliance, benefits, compensation, and offboarding.
- Maintain and continuously improve HR policies, procedures, handbooks, and documentation.
- Manage HR systems and ensure employee data, processes, and reporting are accurate and effective.
- Oversee benefits administration and partner with external vendors and providers.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment requirements.
- Develop and maintain HR metrics and reporting to provide leadership with meaningful workforce insights.
Talent & Organizational Development
- Partner with leadership on workforce planning and recruiting needs.
- Develop practical approaches to attracting, hiring, and retaining high‑performing talent.
- Establish and improve performance management processes, including goal setting, reviews, feedback, and development.
- Support managers in employee development, coaching, performance issues, and difficult conversations.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen employee engagement, culture, and retention.
- Help build career development and succession planning practices as the organization grows.
Employee Relations
- Serve as a resource for employees and managers on workplace issues, policies, and concerns.
- Lead employee relations matters with discretion, sound judgment, and consistency.
- Coach managers on performance management, communication, documentation, and policy application.
- Promote a positive, accountable, and high‑performing workplace culture.
Ideal Background
- 8+ years of progressive HR experience, with HR leadership responsibility.
- Experience as an HR Director, Senior HR Manager, HRBP, or similar hands‑on HR leadership role.
- Experience working in a small or mid‑sized real estate, professional services, property management, or financial services org.
- Demonstrated experience building or improving HR infrastructure, processes, and programs.
- Strong employee relations and performance management experience.
- Working knowledge of employment compliance and HR best practices.
- Strong communication, judgment, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize competing demands, and operate effectively in a fast‑moving environment.
