Altera Health & Rehabilitation in Fairhope, Alabama is seeking an experienced Human Resources Director (HRD) / HR Generalist to join our leadership team. Qualifications

• Previous experience in Human Resources, Employee Relations, Recruiting, Staffing, or Workforce Management.
• Experience as HR Director, HR Generalist, HR Manager, Recruiter, or similar HR role preferred.
• Healthcare, skilled nursing, long-term care, rehabilitation, or post-acute care experience strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of employment law, recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, and HR compliance.
• Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Confidentiality and discretion in handling employee information.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day human resources operations for the facility.
• Manage recruitment, screening, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and orientation.
• Partner with department leaders to identify staffing needs and support workforce planning.
• Support employee relations, coaching, performance management, corrective action, and retention initiatives.
• Maintain employee personnel files and required HR documentation.
• Assist with benefits administration, leave programs, and employee inquiries.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, company policies, and applicable healthcare requirements.
• Coordinate employee engagement, recognition, and retention initiatives.
• Track staffing, turnover, retention, vacancies, and other workforce metrics.
• Maintain confidentiality when handling employee and organizational information.
• Support leadership with HR-related concerns, investigations, documentation, and employee matters.
• Help build a positive, professional, and team-oriented workplace culture.

Altera Health & Rehabilitation is seeking an experienced, organized, and people-focused Human Resources Director (HRD) / HR Generalist to join our leadership team.

This position is ideal for an HR professional who enjoys working directly with employees and department leaders while managing recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, retention, and day-to-day human resources operations within a fast-paced healthcare environment.
