Human Resources Coordinator (Remote)
Lead with compassion, Guide with grace, Support and educate
Location: Remote | Type: Part-Time (Must live in the state of California)
Autonomous Behavior Solutions (ABS) isn’t your typical ABA company, and we don’t want a typical HR Coordinator.
We are a clinician-led, values-driven organization that believes in doing HR differently. At Autonomous Behavior, we build systems around people, not paperwork. We’re seeking an engaged, responsive, and culture-conscious Human Resources Coordinator who thrives in a collaborative and mission-oriented environment.
We support children and families through high-quality, evidence-based ABA services, and we support our employees just as intentionally. Our team is diverse and full of energy. If you want to do more than just process payroll and file documents. If you want to build an ethical, joyful, and well-supported workplace. This is for you.
Why You'll Love ABS
- 100% remote flexibility
- A welcoming, inclusive company culture rooted in collaboration and respect
- Quarterly team meetings, supervisor meetups, and wellness workshops
- Bi-annual company outings.
- Clear pathways for career development, with the potential to grow into an HR Manager role
- Support from leadership that listens and follows through
Your Role in Our Mission
As the Human Resources Coordinator, you will be the heartbeat of our people operations. Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll help shape the employee experience from the moment a new team member is hired to their ongoing development and support.
This position is not just administrative, it’s strategic. You will work cross-functionally with our clinical and operational teams to build sustainable, people-first systems that ensure compliance, engagement, and excellence across the board.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead full-cycle onboarding, including background checks, I-9 verification, and training tracking
- Support payroll processing and assist with timecard corrections and benefit deductions
- Maintain and update employee files, PTO accruals, and license/certification records (e.g., RBT, BCBA, CPR)
- Coordinate compliance tracking for Medi-Cal, BACB, and California labor laws
- Conduct exit interviews, manage offboarding, and help resolve employee concerns with care and confidentiality
- Support performance-related processes, including documentation and policy adherence
- Collaborate on HR initiatives like handbook updates, DEIB practices, training modules, and policy improvements
- Monitor HR metrics such as onboarding completion, time-to-hire, and payroll accuracy
- Communicate clearly with employees, supervisors, and leadership to ensure alignment and support
What We’re Looking For
- 2–4 years of HR experience, preferably in behavioral health, ABA, or healthcare
- Solid understanding of California and U.S. labor laws, including multi-state employment practices
- Familiarity with payroll systems (e.g., ADP) and HR compliance processes
- Tech-savvy: comfortable using Google Workspace, Excel, and HR databases
- Excellent communicator with strong follow-through, attention to detail, and integrity
- Not afraid to ask questions, share ideas, and speak up for what’s right
What We Offer
- Fully remote role with flexible scheduling
- A culture that truly values your voice, ideas, and contributions
- Ongoing training and mentorship
- Potential for advancement into the HR Manager role
- Access to company-wide CEUs, wellness resources, and professional development
We are an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
This is a remote position.
