A mission-driven national nonprofit organization is seeking an HR & Operations Coordinator to join its Washington, DC team. This is a newly created position offering broad exposure across human resources, office operations, payroll, finance, and general administration.
Working closely with a senior HR leader, this individual will serve as a trusted resource for both employees and leadership while helping keep critical internal processes organized and running smoothly. The role offers significantly more exposure and ownership than a traditional coordinator position, making it an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a well-rounded foundation across HR and business operations.
What You’ll Do
- Coordinate day-to-day HR, people, and office operations.
- Support employee onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring tasks, documentation, and internal handoffs are completed accurately.
- Assist with payroll administration, timecard processing, and related employee information.
- Help coordinate performance review cycles and maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Provide administrative support related to invoices, payments, and other basic financial processes.
- Maintain confidential employee, compensation, payroll, and organizational information.
- Serve as a welcoming point of contact for employees, visitors, and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate office access, conference rooms, building requests, and other workplace needs.
- Assist with internal meetings, employee events, and team activities.
- Maintain trackers, calendars, spreadsheets, lists, and internal systems.
- Partner closely with leadership to keep priorities organized and ensure deadlines and follow-up items are completed.
- Identify opportunities to improve administrative processes and create greater efficiency across the organization.
- Provide additional HR and operational support as organizational needs evolve.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or a related field.
- Previous experience in an office-based professional environment through full-time employment, internships, or other relevant experience.
- Genuine interest in developing experience across HR, people operations, and business operations.
- Strong organizational skills and comfort managing several different responsibilities simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and confidence learning new technology and systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with exceptional discretion.
- Professional, polished demeanor and comfort interacting with a variety of stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail and consistent follow-through.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities.
- Demonstrated maturity, sound judgment, and reliability.
