Qualifications

Base pay range

Job Title: Human Resources Business Partner

Pay: $110K-130K+

Location: Seattle, WA.

Position Summary:

The Senior Human Resources Business Partner plays a key role in aligning HR strategies with business goals across multiple departments. This individual is responsible for delivering human capital solutions at strategic, operational, and tactical levels while navigating ambiguity and driving consistent improvements in performance and engagement. The position collaborates closely with leadership to develop and implement HR initiatives that support the company’s workforce objectives and operational priorities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage organizational changes in HRIS, including updates for compensation, transfers, separations, and retirements, ensuring alignment with internal guidelines.
  • Support leadership and employees through performance development by diagnosing challenges, offering actionable solutions, and coaching both groups for sustained improvement.
  • Promote a high-performance culture by working alongside management to encourage engagement and operational excellence.
  • Assist in resolving employee relations issues such as coaching, discipline, grievances, and separations in collaboration with regional leadership and HR management.
  • Oversee leave of absence processes including FMLA, state-specific leaves, workers’ compensation, and other applicable leave programs.
  • Serve as an escalation point for HR Generalist matters involving employee relations or leave management.
  • Develop and execute talent acquisition strategies; guide hiring managers in job postings, offer letters, compensation benchmarking, and candidate communications.
  • Utilize the applicant tracking system to ensure seamless onboarding and offer letter generation.
  • Support compliance with collective bargaining agreements and maintain adherence to local, state, and federal employment laws.
  • Lead and support initiatives in talent development, workforce planning, compensation, benefits, succession planning, and performance management at both local and organizational levels.
  • Collaborate with leaders on identifying key talent, performance trends, and future leadership potential.
  • Ensure legal compliance in employment practices and partner with legal counsel on sensitive issues when necessary.
  • Contribute to policy creation and updates, ensuring alignment with evolving best practices and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct training sessions for managers and employees on relevant HR topics such as performance feedback, workplace conduct, and policy awareness.
  • Provide timely and informative responses to employee inquiries on HR-related processes.
  • Participate in the implementation and upkeep of HR systems, including system configuration, administration, and maintenance.
  • Support the ongoing evolution of HR tools, documentation, and internal workflows.
  • Perform other HR-related duties as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in Human Resources.
  • At least 4 years in a strategic HR leadership role, including labor relations experience with union and non-union workforces.
  • Industry experience in transportation, logistics, or maritime sectors is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Solid understanding of employment laws and regulations such as ADA, ADEA, EEO/AA, FMLA, FLSA, and OSHA.
  • Familiarity with ADP, Kronos, or other HRIS platforms is beneficial.
  • Proven track record in talent acquisition, employee engagement, and leadership development.
  • High level of professional integrity, interpersonal communication, and problem-solving ability.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Builds trust and rapport with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Data-driven decision-maker with strong analytical skills.
  • Exercises sound judgment by thoroughly evaluating situations before acting.
  • Embraces a collaborative and inclusive approach to change and leadership.
