We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Human Resources Assistant to join our thriving team. This is a permanent, full-time position offering an excellent opportunity to contribute to our company's growth and success. The successful candidate will have a hands-on role in managing a broad range of HR functions, including payroll, employee relations, and compliance. This position requires a minimum of 2+ years of experience in the field and offers a competitive compensation package.
Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of the payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
- Handle employee relations issues, such as grievances and disciplinary actions, in a confidential and sensitive manner.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintain records of personnel-related data (payroll, personal information, leaves, turnover rates etc.) in both paper and the database and ensure all employment requirements are met.
- Coordinate HR projects (meetings, training, surveys etc.) and take minutes during meetings.
- Assist in the development and implementation of human resource policies and procedures.
- Conduct initial orientation to newly hired employees and facilitate new hire onboarding process.
- Support the recruitment/hiring process by sourcing candidates, performing background checks, assisting in shortlisting, conducting interviews and issuing employment contracts.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in Human Resources, with proven experience in payroll, employee relations, and compliance.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent work experience, required.
- In-depth knowledge of labor law and HR best practices.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to prioritize in a changing environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems.
- Ability to interpret and apply HR policies, procedures and rules.
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly desirable.
