Job Title: Investigator (Employee Discipline) - 31169

The Office of Human Resources and Employee Experience (HREX) is responsible for ensuring the Department complies with applicable labor and employment laws, as well as City and Agency rules and policies. The unit provides guidance on topics including recruitment, employment, civil service, job and organizational design, labor relations, youth programs, benefits, wellness, performance evaluations, salary administration, timekeeping, and leave administration.

The selected candidate will join the Candidate Processing team within Staffing Management at HREX. The team's goal is to ensure a smooth offer, candidate engagement, and onboarding process. The HR Assistant will manage tasks from offer processing through onboarding and throughout the new hire's tenure. Responsibilities include:

  1. Making offers to new hires and assisting candidates with applications and onboarding.
  2. Serving as the primary contact for candidate issues, liaising with hiring managers and background check teams.
  3. Coordinating with the Office of Internal Affairs and Discipline (IAD) on candidate backgrounds and applicant forms.
  4. Facilitating start dates with candidates and stakeholders.
  5. Processing new hire documentation, including I-9s and other forms.
  6. Acting as liaison for external agencies and internal partners regarding release requests.
  7. Preparing professional hiring statistics.
  8. Using NYCAPS to enter transactions, track activities, and generate reports.
  9. Maintaining the New Hire Tracker and providing ad hoc reports.
  10. Tracking new hire data and recruitment metrics.
  11. Performing additional HR duties such as event participation, recruiting, and candidate review.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent plus four years of experience in criminal justice, human resources, labor relations, auditing, building inspection, or legal affairs; OR
  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college; OR
  • Education and/or experience equivalent to the above.
Remote Work

This position may be eligible for remote work up to 2 days per week under the Remote Work Pilot Program.
