About The Role

We are seeking a self-driven, organized, customer-service oriented Human Resources Assistant for our Boston Central Office. The Human Resources Assistant will provide support to the department and the company as a whole in areas of HRIS, benefits administration, new employee orientation, reporting, file maintenance, and other human resource functions. This role also provides HR support to Preservation of Affordable Housing (POAH). We are currently on a hybrid schedule which allows up to three days working from home each week.

About Your Impact

  • Respond to employee inquiries and route or escalate as appropriate
  • Monitor shared inbox and respond or route emails as appropriate
  • Perform data entry in HRIS such as status changes, employee transactions, benefit changes, etc.
  • Assist with preparations for in-person/virtual recruitment events
  • Coordinate candidate screening process, including any position-related testing, pre-employment background and motor vehicle checks, pre-employment physicals and drug/alcohol screenings
  • Circulate employee information to relevant departments for system access, update, and removal
  • Coordinate tuition reimbursement and employee referral bonus programs
  • Prepare and distribute offer letters and new hire information to managers
  • Collect and review new hire documentation submitted by hiring managers for accuracy, and follow up with hiring managers as appropriate
  • Process annual Motor Vehicle Record checks
  • Provide technical support to employees for HRIS
  • Prepare and distribute correspondence including position and status change letters, benefit paperwork, notices, and end-of-employment packets
  • Submit HR invoices and chargeback information for processing
  • Create and maintain electronic employee files
  • Respond to employment verification requests
  • Respond to unemployment claim information requests
  • Provide support for HR special projects, research and reporting
  • Other related tasks as assigned


About You

  • 0-1 year of related experience
  • Some college preferred
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen ability to prioritize competing deadlines
  • Ability to work with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to monitor own work to ensure quality and accuracy
  • Experience in handling sensitive, confidential information preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Possess an aptitude for software systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
