Position Title: Human Resources & Training SpecialistDepartment: Human ResourcesClassification: Non-ExemptRevised: June 2026Scope:Under the direction of the Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO), the Human Resources & Training Specialist supports the administration of Human Resources functions including payroll, benefits administration, employee records, onboarding, compliance, and reporting. This position also coordinates and supports employee training and development initiatives, including onboarding programs, instructional materials, training schedules, and employee learning opportunities. The Human Resources & Training Specialist serves as a key resource for team members and management by promoting employee engagement, professional development, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.Duties and Responsibilities:Human Resource Responsibilities:Performs payroll administration activities, including entering payroll data, processing timesheets, maintaining employee records, monitoring leave activity, benefits, promotions, transfers, and terminationsEnsures payroll tax filings, deposits, labor corrections, journal entries, and governmental reporting requirements are completed accurately and timely.Maintains employee records within payroll and HR systems to ensure data accuracy and compliance.Administers employee benefit programs and assists team members with benefits-related inquiries.Prepares and distributes communications regarding benefits programs, policy updates and employee resources.Assists with the development, maintenance, and updating of job descriptions and organizational records.Maintains records and prepares reports concerning hiring, promotions, transfers, terminations, and other employment activities.Ensures compliance with applicable employment laws, regulations, wage and hour requirements, and posting requirements.Develops and maintains spreadsheets, databases, and HR reporting tools.Develops, facilitates, and implements all phases of the recruitment process.Initial screen of candidates and then connects viable candidates with HR and hiring managers.Schedules interviews; oversees preparation of interview questions and other hiring and selection materials.Arranges meeting locations, travel, and/or accommodation for applicants and company managers when necessary.Assists with the interview process, attending and conducting interviews with managers when needed.Training & Development Responsibilities:Coordinates the development, implementation, delivery, and evaluation of in-person and virtual training programs for all employeesAssists with the development, maintenance, accuracy, and periodic review of training materials, procedures, and instructional resources.Coordinates onboarding activities for all new employees to ensure a positive and engaging experience that reflects the organization's culture and valuesFacilitates new employee orientation and ensures new team members receive required training, resources, and informationCollaborates with department managers to create onboarding plans, employee development plans, and ongoing learning opportunities.Coordinates internal and external training opportunities, seminars, workshops, certifications, and professional development programsMonitors training compliance requirements and maintains training records and documentation.Keeps current on industry trends, organizational policies, procedures, products, and regulatory changes to support effective employee education.Assists in conducting training sessions and presentations as needed.Operations:Maintains compliance with audit requirements and internal controls related to Human Resources and Training functionsProvides timely updates regarding HR and training activities, initiatives, and departmental needs.Supports organizational projects and initiatives to help achieve strategic goalsKeeps abreast of changes in policies, procedures, products, regulations, and best practices through ongoing professional development.Performs other duties as assigned.Customer Service:Provides professional and responsive support to employees, managers, and external partners regarding Human Resources and training matters.Assists with resolution of problems and issues.Provides a positive employee experience through effective communication, education, and support.Competencies:1.
