Human Resource Manager
Location: Troy, Michigan
We are seeking an experienced HR Manager to join a growing organization in Troy, Michigan. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on HR professional who enjoys working in a smaller organization and having a direct impact on employees, leadership, and day-to-day HR operations.
The ideal candidate will have a well-rounded HR background and be comfortable managing a broad range of HR responsibilities, including employee relations, onboarding, benefits, payroll processing, compliance, performance management, and HR policies and procedures.
HR Manager Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of five years of progressive Human Resources experience.
- Experience working in a small to mid-sized organization preferred.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR best practices.
- Well-rounded experience with employee relations, payroll, benefits administration, recruiting, compensation, and HR compliance.
- Experience developing and implementing HR policies, procedures, and processes.
- Experience with HRIS and payroll systems; Paychex experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently while partnering closely with leadership and employees.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
HR Manager Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary HR resource for employees and leadership.
- Partner with leadership and Operations on staffing, workforce planning, employee development, retention, and organizational needs.
- Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, programs, and best practices.
- Coordinate payroll administration, benefits, compensation, employee changes, HRIS administration, and HR reporting.
- Provide guidance and support regarding employee relations, performance management, corrective action, workplace investigations, and employee separations.
- Manage recruiting and hiring activities, including sourcing, interviewing, selection, and onboarding.
- Coordinate employee training, development, performance evaluations, and recognition programs.
- Maintain employee records and ensure HR documentation is accurate and up to date.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state employment laws and HR regulations.
- Partner with Operations regarding workplace injuries, safety incidents, and appropriate HR follow-up.
- Monitor HR metrics and provide reporting and recommendations to leadership.
- Evaluate HR processes and systems and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support company-wide initiatives and special HR projects as needed.
- Maintain a positive, professional, and employee-focused workplace environment.
- Perform other HR-related duties as needed.
