Job summary

HopeLink Behavioral Health in Oakton, VA seeks an HR Generalist to manage essential people operations and support a mission-aligned workforce. You will own onboarding, benefits administration, compliance, and HR records, while partnering with payroll and leadership to drive workforce initiatives in a hybrid work setting.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years in HR Generalist roles, with preference for experience in behavioral health or regulated environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or related field.
• 3+ years of progressive HR Generalist experience.
• PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
• Experience in behavioral health or regulated environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as first point of contact for employee HR questions.
• Initiate onboarding and conduct new employee orientation.
• Serve as internal contact for benefits administration and enrollments.
• Process employee separations, verifications, and pay issues with payroll.
• Partner with HRBP to administer leaves of absence and accommodations.
• Manage compliance deadlines (Virginia New Hire Reporting, I-9 reverification, OSHA 300A, postings).
• Maintain personnel files and HR system data integrity; produce reports.
• Support recruitment and performance appraisal processes.
• Support HR/workforce initiatives and projects.

SUMMARY STATEMENT OF POSITION:

The Human Resource (HR) Generalist delivers day-to-day people operations that build and retain a mission-aligned workforce. Assigned to one or more divisions, this position owns onboarding and orientation, benefits administration, compliance, leave and accommodation administration, and HR records and reporting.

SCHEDULE & LOCATION:

• Shifts available: Monday through Friday,8:30 am – 5:00 pm
• This is a hybrid position and requires aminimum of three days a week on-site in our Oakton Office.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

• Serve as a first point of contact for employee HR questions, including the shared HR inbox, with a strong customer service focus.
• Initiate onboarding and conduct new employee orientation so new hires are prepared for early success.
• Serve as the internal contact for benefits administration and support Benefits Open Enrollment and employee recognition programs.
• Process employee separations, employment verifications, and pay-related issues in partnership with payroll and finance.
• Partner with the HR Business Partner to administer leaves of absence and accommodations.
• Manage compliance deadlines, including Virginia New Hire Reporting, I-9 reverification, OSHA Form 300A, and labor law postings, and administer workers' compensation and unemployment claims.
• Maintain personnel files and HR system data integrity, and complete standard HR and workforce reporting.
• Support recruitment and selection and the performance appraisal process.
• Support strategic plan HR/workforce initiatives and/or projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or a related field
• 3+ years of progressive HR Generalist experience; a combination of education and experience is considered
• Advanced knowledge of MS Office and HRIS systems, and comfort learning new technical systems
• Exceptional judgment, attention to detail, organization, and independence in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to build trusted working relationships with employees and leadership, with high ethical standards and professionalism
• PHR or SHRM-CP certification, preferred
• Experience in behavioral health, healthcare, human services, or another highly regulated environment, preferred
