Job summary

How To MANAGE a Small Law Firm is seeking an experienced Human Resources Director to build and lead the HR function during a period of growth. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution to create scalable processes and policies across the organization.

You will partner with the executive team on workforce planning, manage mergers or acquisitions HR transitions, and coach leaders to drive engagement and performance while ensuring compliance with employment laws.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of progressive Human Resources leadership experience, including as HR Director or senior HR leader.
  • Experience in startups and scaling organizations.
  • Experience leading HR efforts during mergers, acquisitions, or post acquisition integrations.
  • Experience working within large enterprise or matrix organizations.
  • Strong strategic thinking with the ability to execute operationally.
  • Experience building HR infrastructure, policies, and programs from the ground up.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and change management skills.
  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree or HR certification (SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalent) is preferred.

  • Coach and develop leaders on employee engagement, performance management, and leadership effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Foster a positive, high performance culture while maintaining a strong focus on employee experience.
