The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) is dedicated to protecting and promoting the health of Virginians. The VDH is made up of a statewide Central Office in Richmond and 33 local health districts. The Chesterfield Health District provides public health services to the residents of Chesterfield County, Powhatan County, and the City of Colonial Heights. This position is based out of the Chesterfield Health Department.

The Chesterfield Health District is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Human Resources Assistant to join our team. Reporting to the District's Senior HR Analyst, this position will play a key role in supporting day-to-day HR operations and providing frontline support to employees. The HR Assistant will respond to routine inquiries related to policies, benefits, and hiring processes, and assist with clerical and administrative tasks to ensure the smooth functioning of HR services.
This role will also support a variety of special projects and may help coordinate district-wide meetings and employee engagement events. Responsibilities also include maintaining accurate and confidential HR records, performing routine audits, preparing reports, and processing personnel documentation and transactions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills and the ability to interpret policies and procedures while providing responsive customer service and maintaining professionalism in all interactions. An interest in staying current on HR best practices and trends is a plus.
