Job description

We are looking for an HSE Technician to join our team in the Houston area. This position focuses on bolstering our Health, Safety, and Environmental programs by helping to refine, execute, and oversee safety protocols and regulatory compliance across our site.

Work Schedule

• Monday through Friday, from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
• A designated 30-minute lunch break from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM.
• Occasional Saturday half-days as business needs dictate.
• Overtime opportunities are available.
• Flexibility to work extended hours is required when the situation demands.

Compensation

• Hourly pay ranging from $35.00 to $40.00, commensurate with your professional background.

Core Responsibilities

• Organize and maintain safety records to ensure full compliance with internal policies and legal standards.
• Analyze accidents and near-miss events to identify root causes and help prevent future occurrences.
• Perform daily site walkthroughs to proactively detect potential environmental or safety hazards.
• Manage Safety Data Sheets and oversee the secure handling, labeling, and disposal of hazardous substances.
• Collaborate on the creation and rollout of new safety procedures and documentation to improve site standards.
• Take an active role in both internal and external safety audits.
• Equip department heads with the necessary resources and data to foster a culture of safety and compliance.
• Lead safety training sessions for staff, contractors, and visitors to keep everyone informed.
• Facilitate comprehensive safety orientations for all new team members.
• Ensure that emergency equipment like fire extinguishers and AEDs are inspected and fully functional.
• Update safety communication boards and digital displays to keep the team informed on critical updates.
• Support the team by participating in daily toolbox talks and quarterly safety meetings.
• Provide support by accompanying staff to medical facilities following work-related injuries or property damage.
• Track and manage follow-ups for all reported employee injuries and medical appointments.
• Remain available for on-call duties to address spills, injuries, or other safety-related emergencies.
• Coach and mentor employees on best practices to help maintain a safe working environment for the entire team.
• Complete other duties as assigned to support the facility.

Equipment and Systems

• Operate standard office tools and manufacturing machinery as needed for daily tasks.
• Use specialized testing and measuring equipment according to established safety protocols.
• Utilize Microsoft Office Suite to generate reports, track training, and manage safety communications.

Qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Professional safety certifications are a plus, including CSST, COSS, OSHA 10/30, OSHA 500/510, or equivalent credentials.

Experience

• At least three years of professional experience in a safety-focused position.

Skills and Abilities

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse group of employees and management.
• Capacity to manage multiple tasks independently as the primary HSE contact.
• Deep understanding of OSHA regulations and environmental compliance standards.
• Experience managing hazardous materials and waste in accordance with safety laws.
• Ability to perform thorough incident investigations to drive meaningful corrective actions.
• Skill in facilitating safety training and conducting facility-wide audits.
• First Aid/CPR certification is preferred or must be obtained within 90 days.
• A valid driver's license is required.
• Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are highly valued.
• Ability to fully perform all job functions within 90 days of starting.

Training Requirements

• Completion of company-specific safety training.
• Review of all management systems and internal policies.
• Orientation on quality systems and indoctrination.
• Formal training on procedures and industry standards as defined by our training matrix.
• First Aid/CPR certification training if not already held.

Additional Requirements

• Must be available for on-call duties.
