Job summary

Elevate Human Capital seeks an HSE Technician to support the organization’s health, safety, and environmental programs in the Houston area. The role focuses on implementing and improving safety processes, maintaining documentation, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

You will conduct inspections, incidents investigations, audits, and safety trainings while coordinating with department leaders and employees. Requires safety experience and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a safety-related role.
• Safety certifications preferred, including CSST, COSS, OSHA 10/30, OSHA 500/510 or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain HSE documentation and filing systems.
• Investigate accidents, near misses, and incidents to determine root causes.
• Conduct daily facility inspections to identify hazards.

Job description

EHC is seeking a HSE Technician for a Client in the Houston Area

Position Details

Shift: Day Shift

Schedule:

• Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM
• 30-minute lunch break (12:00 PM to 12:30 PM)
• Some Saturdays (half-day) as needed
• Overtime available
• Must be flexible to work extended hours when necessary

Pay Rate:

• $35.00-$40.00 per hour, based on experience

Primary Function

As an HSE Technician, you will support the organization's Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) programs by assisting with the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of safety processes, procedures, and compliance initiatives throughout the facility.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain HSE documentation and filing systems in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Investigate accidents, near misses, and incidents to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Conduct daily facility inspections to identify potential health, safety, and environmental hazards.
• Maintain and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and ensure proper labeling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
• Assist in the development and implementation of safety policies, procedures, programs, and related HSE documentation.
• Participate in internal and external HSE audits.
• Provide department leaders with the information, resources, and tools necessary to support safety initiatives and compliance efforts.
• Coordinate and facilitate safety training for employees, contractors, third-party personnel, and visitors as directed.
• Conduct safety orientations and onboarding programs for new hires.
• Inspect and maintain safety equipment and supplies, including fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, first aid kits, and Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs).
• Manage safety communication materials, including bulletin boards, digital displays, and other communication channels throughout the facility.
• Assist with quarterly safety meetings and daily toolbox talks.
• Accompany employees to medical facilities for work-related injuries or incidents involving property damage.
• Monitor and follow up on employee injury cases and medical visits.
• Remain available on an on-call basis for employee injuries, property damage incidents, environmental spills, and near-miss events.
• Train, coach, and support employees on workplace safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Tools, Equipment, and Machinery

• Operate standard office equipment and manufacturing machinery as necessary to support business operations.
• Utilize inspection, measuring, testing, and monitoring equipment in accordance with applicable procedures and work instructions.
• Utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint to maintain records, reports, training documentation, and safety communications.

Qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Safety certification preferred, including:
  • CSST (Certified Safety and Health Specialist)
  • COSS (Certified Occupational Safety Specialist)
  • OSHA 10-Hour
  • OSHA 30-Hour
  • OSHA 500/510
  • Equivalent safety-related certification

Experience

• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a safety-related role.

Skills and Abilities

• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to effectively work with employees, contractors, management, and a diverse workforce.
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities independently as a stand-alone HSE Technician.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations, health and safety laws, environmental compliance requirements, and industry best practices.
• Experience with hazardous materials handling, hazardous waste regulations, and safe work practices.
• Ability to investigate incidents, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Ability to conduct safety inspections, audits, orientations, and training programs.
• First Aid/CPR certification preferred or ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
• Ability to perform all essential job functions within 90 days of hire.

Training Requirements

• Company safety training.
• Required management system and policy review.
• Quality system orientation and indoctrination.
• Formal training on company work instructions, procedures, and applicable industry standards as outlined in the training matrix.
• First Aid/CPR certification training, if not currently certified.
