EH&S Technician

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM–3:00 PM
Employment Type: Long-Term Contract
Pay Rate: $29.00–$32.00 per hour, depending on education and experience
Kelly Science & Clinical is currently seeking an EH&S Technician for a long-term contract opportunity with a leading industrial organization in Houston, TX. This position will work closely with the EH&S Manager to implement environmental, health, and safety management systems, standards, and procedures to support site safety objectives.
Position Summary
The EH&S Technician will spend significant time in process areas observing operations, interacting with employees and contractors, coaching safe work practices, and helping implement EH&S standards across the site. The role will primarily focus on safety and industrial hygiene activities and will serve as a resource for identifying and addressing EH&S concerns.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement day-to-day EH&S programs, work processes, standards, and procedures.
- Support safety and industrial hygiene activities to help achieve site safety performance goals.
- Serve as a point of contact for safety, industrial hygiene, and environmental concerns.
- Coach employees and contractors on safe work practices and site safety requirements.
- Assist with developing and achieving department and site EH&S goals.
- Participate in safety-related project reviews, including Management of Change (MOC) reviews, as needed.
- Assist with incident investigations and document findings and follow-up actions.
- Conduct EH&S audits and self-assessments, including reviews of safe work permits, energy isolation procedures, and elevated work activities.
- Conduct safety walks of process areas and active jobs, observing work practices and assisting Operations and Maintenance with correcting identified issues.
- Review active permits and audit completed permits.
- Verify isolation procedures are current and conduct required self-assessments.
- Complete assigned training, document reviews, and compliance activities.
- Participate in department safety meetings.
- Participate in corporate EH&S audits and special projects as needed.
- Attend contractor safety meetings and provide site-specific safety training and orientation.
- Communicate safety information and support continuous improvement of site EH&S performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or a related scientific/technical discipline preferred.
- 1–2 years of EH&S, safety, industrial hygiene, manufacturing, or related experience required
- Strong understanding of workplace safety practices and EH&S principles.
- Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Ability to communicate complex EH&S requirements clearly to employees and contractors.
- Ability to conduct safety observations, audits, and assessments.
- Ability to understand and apply EH&S standards, policies, and procedures.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining positive working relationships with employees, contractors, Operations, and Maintenance.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
