Job description

The Safety Technician is responsible for implementing and maintaining safety protocols to ensure a safe and efficient working environment in a manufacturing facility. Key duties include conducting safety inspections, identifying and mitigating hazards, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, investigating incidents, supports PPE issuance tracking and providing safety training to employees. This role requires a proactive approach to managing risks and promoting a strong culture of workplace safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine inspections of manufacturing processes, machinery, and workstations to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
  • Monitor for potential hazards, including inadequate machine guarding, powered industrial trucks, fire risks, chemical spills, or ergonomic issues. Design and recommend corrective actions or processes to mitigate and eliminate risks.
  • Stay up to date with industry safety standards and regulations, including those set by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
  • Regularly update and maintain safety systems documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.
  • Assist in preparing for and participating in internal and external safety audits, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the investigation of workplace incidents by compiling detailed reports, analyzing root causes, and recommending corrective or preventative actions.
  • Provide training sessions, workshops, and toolbox talks to employees on safety procedures, policies, and best practices.
  • Coordinate emergency action plans, including organizing and executing fire drills, evacuation processes, and first aid preparedness.
  • Monitor and maintain emergency and safety equipment, including fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, and first aid kits, to ensure they are in proper working condition.
  • Support and execute specific safety-related tasks and activities as directed by the EHS Manager, adhering to established policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • OSHA 10 / OSHA 30 Certification (required).
  • Experience with ISO Management systems 45001, 14001 and RBA (preferred but not required).
  • Minimum of 4-5 years of knowledge and experience with U.S. legal safety requirements (required).
  • Hands-on experience with hazardous materials management (preferred).
  • Ability to interpret and implement legal and regulatory requirements.
