Job summary

Addison Group is seeking a Safety Specialist to support the EHS program across multiple operational locations in Greater Houston. You will collect, analyze, and report safety and environmental data, develop dashboards and KPIs, and maintain audit-ready documentation to drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities include coordinating OSHA, DOT/FMCSA, EPA, and USCG compliance, tracking deadlines, and supporting incident investigations.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Collect, validate, analyze, and report EHS data across facilities, fleet operations, terminals, maintenance shops, warehouses, and field personnel.
• Develop and maintain safety dashboards, scorecards, KPIs, trend analyses, audit findings, training completion metrics, incident data, and environmental performance reporting.
• Maintain EHS documentation, policies, procedures, inspection records, training records, corrective action logs, permits, regulatory files, and supporting evidence for audits.
• Support compliance programs involving OSHA, DOT, EPA, USCG, state and local requirements through documentation and reporting.
• Monitor fleet and transportation compliance data, inspection findings, violations, incidents, corrective actions, and regulatory trends.
• Coordinate environmental compliance programs including hazardous materials handling, hazardous waste management, SPCC, emissions, permitting, and emergency preparedness documentation.
• Track regulatory deadlines, permit requirements, inspection schedules, and corrective actions across multiple locations.
• Prepare meaningful EHS reporting for leadership and identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Assist integration of newly acquired locations by organizing compliance records and aligning reporting standards.

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a Safety Specialist to support the analytical, documentation, environmental, and regulatory compliance infrastructure of a growing Environmental, Health & Safety program. This role will focus on collecting and analyzing safety and compliance data, developing and monitoring performance metrics, maintaining regulatory and audit documentation, supporting environmental compliance programs, and providing accurate reporting that enables leadership to identify risk, measure performance, and scale consistent EHS practices across multiple operational locations.

Primary Responsibilities

• Collect, validate, analyze, and report EHS data across operational facilities, fleet operations, terminals, maintenance shops, warehouses, and field personnel.
• Develop and maintain safety dashboards, scorecards, KPIs, trend analyses, audit findings, training completion metrics, incident data, and environmental performance reporting.
• Maintain EHS documentation, policies, procedures, inspection records, training records, corrective action logs, permits, regulatory files, and supporting evidence for internal and external audits.
• Support compliance programs involving OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, EPA, USCG, state, and local regulatory requirements through accurate documentation, reporting, and recordkeeping.
• Monitor fleet and transportation compliance data, inspection findings, violations, incidents, corrective actions, and applicable regulatory trends.
• Support incident investigations and root cause analyses through data collection, documentation, trend identification, corrective action tracking, and closure verification.
• Coordinate environmental compliance programs including hazardous materials handling, hazardous waste management, fuel storage systems, spill prevention (SPCC), emissions compliance, permitting, and emergency preparedness documentation.
• Track regulatory deadlines, permit requirements, inspection schedules, access to required records, and corrective action completion across multiple locations.
• Prepare meaningful EHS reporting for leadership and identify recurring trends, areas of exposure, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Partner with the Safety Manager, Operations, Fleet, Maintenance, Human Resources, Insurance, Legal, and leadership to ensure accurate information and consistent compliance practices.
• Help establish standardized EHS documentation, reporting, metrics, and compliance processes capable of scaling as operations grow organically and through acquisition.
• Support integration of newly acquired locations by organizing compliance records, identifying documentation gaps, aligning reporting standards, and tracking corrective actions.

Required Qualifications

• Experience supporting Environmental, Health & Safety, regulatory compliance, fleet/transportation compliance, environmental programs, or related functions within an operational environment.
• Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT/FMCSA, environmental compliance requirements, regulatory reporting, and EHS recordkeeping practices.
• Experience analyzing safety or operational data and developing reports, dashboards, KPIs, metrics, or trend analyses for leadership review.
• Strong documentation and organizational skills with experience maintaining audit files, inspection records, training records, incident documentation, corrective actions, and regulatory records.
• Experience supporting environmental compliance activities such as hazardous materials, hazardous waste, fuel storage, SPCC, emissions, permitting, or emergency preparedness.
• Strong analytical, written communication, and attention-to-detail skills with the ability to manage multiple compliance deadlines and data sources.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Data/Business Analytics, or a related discipline.
• Professional certifications such as ASP, CSP, CHMM, CDS, TCEQ-related credentials, or other applicable EHS certifications.
• Experience supporting multi-site operations with fleet safety, terminal operations, maintenance facilities, petroleum/fuel storage, hazardous materials, or environmental compliance.
• Experience working with regulatory agencies, insurance carriers, legal teams, or third-party auditors and preparing supporting compliance documentation.
• Demonstrated experience improving EHS reporting, data quality, audit readiness, regulatory documentation, or scalable compliance processes.
