Job summary

PCL Civil Constructors, Inc. is seeking an experienced HSE Supervisor to lead health, safety and environmental programs across the East District, including Raleigh, NC and other sites.

This role emphasizes proactive safety leadership, regulatory compliance, and mentorship of project teams to deliver civil infrastructure safely. Responsibilities include implementing HSE plans, conducting training, regulatory adherence, and coordinating incident investigations while building strong stakeholder

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
• 5 years' experience in health and safety role in related industry; supervisory experience a plus.
• Solid understanding of OH&S and environmental legislation and HSE processes.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage stakeholder relationships on complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of project HSE programs across the East District.
• Identify, develop and deliver project-specific HSE training.
• Execute district HSE communications and project safety plans.
• Detect hazards, assess risks and advise on controls.
• Lead safety inspections and monitor contractor HSE performance.
• Develop and test emergency response and environmental plans for projects.
• Coordinate investigations and drive corrective actions.
• Maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and mentors to junior staff.

Here's how a HSE Supervisor for PCL Civil Constructors, Inc. within Civil East contributes to our team:

Leads the implementation and continuous improvement of project health, safety, and environmental programs, partnering with project teams, trade partners, and field leadership to promote a strong safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance, and support the safe delivery of complex civil infrastructure projects across the East District

Responsibilities

• Implements and supports project HSE plans, regulatory requirements, and other safe work practices.
• Identifies, evaluates, develops and delivers project specific HSE training.
• Implements district HSE communication strategies on projects.
• Recognizes, evaluates, and advises on hazard identification.
• Leads and conducts project HSE inspections and monitors the quality and effectiveness of inspections and trade safety plans.
• Develops and evaluates efficiency of the project emergency response plan, site-specific security requirements and the environmental plan.
• Monitors and audits trade contractor HSE performance.
• Participates in on-site investigative processes and evaluating corrective actions taken.
• Develops and maintains positive relationships with all stakeholders.
• Coaches, trains and mentors HSE Coordinators and other employees.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
• 5 years' experience in a health and safety role in a related industry. Previous experience in a supervisory role an asset.
• Solid understanding of applicable OH&S and environmental legislation and HSE processes.
• Conflict resolution skills, with the ability to problem-solve.
• Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to develop, influence, and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
• Strong working knowledge of construction processes and terminology.
• Solid understanding of Microsoft Office Suite with a strong aptitude for adopting new technology.
