Job summary

PCL Civil Constructors, Inc. is seeking an HSE Supervisor in Raleigh, NC with responsibilities across the East District to lead health, safety and environmental programs on civil infrastructure projects.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in OH&S or related field, safety designation, and 5 years of HSE experience, including supervisory duties. You will mentor teams and ensure regulatory compliance on site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
• Holds safety designation.
• 5 years’ experience in a health and safety role in a related industry. Supervisory experience is an asset.
• Solid understanding of OH&S and environmental legislation and HSE processes.
• Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Implements and supports project HSE plans and safe work practices.
• Delivers project-specific HSE training.
• Leads district HSE communication strategies on projects.
• Identifies and advises on hazard identification.
• Leads project HSE inspections and evaluates safety plans.
• Develops and maintains emergency and environmental plans.
• Monitors contractor HSE performance.
• Participates in on-site investigations and corrective actions.
• Develops relationships with stakeholders.
• Coaches and mentors HSE staff.

Here’s how a HSE Supervisor for PCL Civil Constructors, Inc. within Civil East contributes to our team:

Leads the implementation and continuous improvement of project health, safety, and environmental programs, partnering with project teams, trade partners, and field leadership to promote a strong safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance, and support the safe delivery of complex civil infrastructure projects across the East District

Responsibilities

• Implements and supports project HSE plans, regulatory requirements, and other safe work practices.

• Identifies, evaluates, develops and delivers project specific HSE training.

• Implements district HSE communication strategies on projects.

• Recognizes, evaluates, and advises on hazard identification.

• Leads and conducts project HSE inspections and monitors the quality and effectiveness of inspections and trade safety plans.

• Develops and evaluates efficiency of the project emergency response plan, site-specific security requirements and the environmental plan.

• Monitors and audits trade contractor HSE performance.

• Participates in on-site investigative processes and evaluating corrective actions taken.

• Develops and maintains positive relationships with all stakeholders.

• Coaches, trains and mentors HSE Coordinators and other employees.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.

• Holds safety designation.

• 5 years’ experience in a health and safety role in a related industry. Previous experience in a supervisory role an asset.

• Solid understanding of applicable OH&S and environmental legislation and HSE processes.

• Conflict resolution skills, with the ability to problem-solve.

• Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

• Ability to develop, influence, and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.

• Strong working knowledge of construction processes and terminology.

• Solid understanding of Microsoft Office Suite with a strong aptitude for adopting new technology.
