Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a Safety Specialist to oversee daily safety operations and ensure regulatory compliance across facilities in New Mexico. You will lead inspections, incident investigations, and training, driving a strong safety culture.

Prepare and maintain HSE records, coordinate emergency actions, and deliver coaching to improve safety performance. Proficiency in MS Office and excellent communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years’ safety experience.
• OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 1926 familiarity.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills (written and oral).
• Ability to stand, sit, and walk the property as needed.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Job description

• Oversee daily work activities
• Promote enhanced safety compliance and performance
• Provide safety training through coaching, mentoring, and required training
• Perform daily, weekly, quarterly, and annual inspections on tools, equipment, and facility items
• Ensure implementation of company policies, procedures, and work processes
• Monitor compliance with company, client, and governmental safety rules and regulations
• Conduct frequent inspections focused on unsafe conditions and work behavior
• Document and delegate corrective actions for immediate resolution
• Participate in facility new employee orientations
• Maintain HSE records in compliance with recordkeeping standards
• Facilitate or coordinate safety training and forward completed documentation to the training center
• Conduct facility hazard inspections and ensure hazard controls for machines, equipment, vehicles, and tools
• Ensure incident reports are completed and submitted timely
• Investigate incidents, first aids, and near misses; participate in Root Cause Analysis investigations
• Obtain witness statements and submit medical documentation to Corporate HSE Management
• Transport injured employees to a medical facility when required
• Coordinate Facility Emergency Action Plan procedures
• Verify employees are issued and use appropriate personal protective equipment
• Perform regular jobsite inspections of crews and document unsafe practices and conditions
• Ensure proper fire extinguishers and first aid supplies are maintained

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ safety experience
• Any certifications and training as a safety professional a plus
• OSHA Out-Reach Trainer preferred
• Must be familiar with OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 1926
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills (written and oral)
• Prolonged periods sitting / standing at a desk and working on a computer
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time
• Ability to walk the property and laydown yards
• Ability to carry up to 50 pounds
