Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic planning, execution, and continuous improvement of the organization’s OMS, including the Department Business Plan and HSE SNAP auditing program.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive auditing protocols aligned with the organization's Operating Management System (OMS)
  • Schedule, coordinate, and oversee the HSE audits across all International Business Units and Major Project Sites.
  • Ensure audit findings are clearly documented, communicated, and addressed promptly, with appropriate corrective actions identified and implemented.
  • Analyze audit outcomes to identify trends and systemic issues, recommending actionable improvements to enhance HSE performance by leveraging Intelex data and other data sources and using artificial intelligence where possible.
  • Report audits action plans closure and produce reports that provide managerial insight.
  • Provide expert guidance and training on auditing standards, methods, and practices to operational staff, enhancing awareness and compliance.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and mentor on compliance requirements and performance standards relevant to HSE auditing.
  • Coordinate and streamline document control processes related to auditing and compliance reporting.
  • Collaborate closely with operational and project teams to ensure effective and efficient audit processes and add value to operations.
  • Manage HSE budget and resources related to HSE quality

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Assist in annual reviews of the OMS and related Performance Standards.
  • Support the establishment of annual organizational HSE objectives and targets.
  • Conduct periodic field inspections and facility audits to identify compliance concerns and improvement opportunities.
  • Review and update HSE auditing policies, procedures, and guidelines regularly to ensure relevance and compliance with current standards and regulations.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned by the VP HSE.

Education and Professional Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience within the Exploration & Production (E&P) industry, with at least 5 years in a managerial or supervisory auditing/HSE role.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of E&P operational practices, HSE management systems, and relevant compliance requirements.
  • Proven experience in developing, implementing, and managing audit programs and conducting comprehensive HSE assessments.
  • Demonstrated leadership, strong communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence across all organizational levels.
  • Effective organizational and negotiation skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and drive results independently.
  • Strong focus on operational support and credibility within organizational operations and projects.
  • Proven ability to mentor, develop, and lead high-performing auditing teams.

The Successful Candidate Will Have

  • Demonstrated working knowledge and ability to apply all technical principles, theories, and concepts within the HSE function.
  • Demonstrated good working knowledge of analyses to identify solutions to technical problems.
  • Be a self-starter, able to work with limited supervision
  • Excellent understanding of local, state, and federal regulations in the area of expertise and good knowledge of overall HSE laws.
  • A strong background in industry standards/practices related to the primary field of expertise.
  • A Good understanding of OPC and OOG HSE/Risk Policy, Standards, and Procedures.
  • Demonstrates ability to lead OOG Audits, incident investigations, and other independent projects.

  • Experience in implementing and managing broad-based HSE programs.
  • Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated success with organizations with multi-discipline staff.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Operated effectively within a multicultural environment.
  • Effective interpersonal and team-building skills.
  • Proven ability to influence key stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with PowerBI or similar business intelligence tools for creating engaging dashboards and reports.
  • Continuously research and apply new and innovative technology to health and safety data.
  • Ability to speak Spanish (preferred)
