Job summary

Syngenta's Production & Supply Team in Greensboro, NC is seeking an HSE Intern. This paid internship provides hands-on experience mentoring by the North America Regional HSE Team and the chance to contribute to a real HSE program within a world leader in crop protection.

You will assist with HSE projects, training, risk assessments, audits, and environmental programs while developing practical skills for a future career in health, safety, and the environment.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited university degree in Health, Safety, and Environment or similar technical field
• Preferably two co-op assignments in HSE during college
• Experience in construction safety is a plus
• Experience in a laboratory or research setting is a plus
• Knowledge of HSE regulations (OSHA, NFPA, EPA, DOT)
• Ability to read and interpret HSE legislation
• Ability to organize and learn to conduct site HSE audits and risk analyses
• Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship

Responsibilities

• Ensure all projects comply with federal, state, local HSE regulations and Syngenta standards
• Assist with training the site spill team
• Develop, implement, maintain, and improve the site's HSE program and management systems
• Assist with HSE risk assessments of projects (changes, construction, other initiatives)
• Provide HSE guidance and training for all employees and contractors; drive safety awareness
• Assist with the site environmental program (hazardous waste, air permits)
• Assist IH monitoring (respiratory fit testing, hood monitoring, ergonomics)
• Maintain site HSE intranet information, databases, and records
• Participate in incident investigations and share lessons learned
• Support cross-functional teams and HSE network initiatives
• Maintain onsite presence via walkthroughs, inspections, and audits
• Assist with site security program operations
