Job summary

Gestamp’s Lapeer Plant in Michigan is seeking a dedicated HSE Technician to lead safety, training, and environmental programs. You will initiate, implement, analyze, report, and oversee initiatives aligned with MIOSHA/OSHA guidelines.

Responsibilities include directing safety programs, risk analysis, emergency response, ISO 14001/45001 and ISO 9001/IATF 16949 training, audits support, and collaboration with teams to reduce incidents and ensure a safe production environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; OSHA training recommended.
• 2–5 years of experience in EHS; automotive manufacturing preferred.
• Knowledge of OSHA/MIOSHA guidelines and safety program administration.

Responsibilities

• Directs implementation of safety programs and procedures.
• Monitors safety metrics and improvement systems.
• Ensures adherence to MIOSHA and OSHA guidelines.
• Identifies and evaluates environmental hazards; recommends corrective actions.
• Performs risk analyses and reviews policy effectiveness.
• Leads ERT safety committee and conducts safety training.
• Manages workers' compensation records and incident responses.
• Oversees ISO 14001 EMS programs.
• Oversees Storm Water Program as Certified Storm Water Operator.
• Oversees ISO 45001 OH & Safety Management System initiatives.
• Manages Global Health and Safety Indicator (GHSI).
• Drives accident prevention for machinery and behavior.
• Oversees safety, environmental, and quality training and documentation.
• Participates in Layered Process Audit schedule.
• Participates in ISO 9001/IATF 16949 internal audits (where applicable).
• Supports audits and provides information related to customer standards.
