Position Description

The HSC Adjunct Faculty Member is a non-tenure track facultyposition that provides didactic and/or clinical teaching supportfor the Undergraduate Nursing Program within the Texas TechUniversity Health Sciences Center School of Nursing. The adjunctfaculty member collaborates with course faculty and programleadership to facilitate student learning, evaluate studentperformance, and contribute clinical expertise to supportachievement of program and course outcomes.

This position reports directly to the Program Director and supportsthe academic mission of the School of Nursing through excellence inteaching, mentorship, and student engagement.

The ideal candidate is a clinically competent and student-focusednursing professional who is passionate about developing the nextgeneration of nurses. This individual demonstrates excellence innursing practice, strong communication skills, and a commitment tofostering student success in both classroom and clinicalenvironments.

This role offers an opportunity to shape future nurses throughmeaningful teaching and mentorship while maintaining engagement inprofessional nursing practice. Adjunct faculty play a critical rolein advancing the School of Nursing's mission to prepare competent,compassionate, and practice-ready nursing professionals who servethe healthcare needs of Texas and beyond.

Major/Essential Functions
Essential Functions
  • Assist with didactic instruction in undergraduate nursingcourses as assigned.
  • Provide clinical instruction, supervision, and evaluation in aspecified clinical area and/or the simulation laboratory.
  • Evaluate student performance and clinical competency usingestablished course and program criteria.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to faculty regardingstudent performance, progression, and learning achievements.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for assigned course contentand learning activities.
  • Facilitate student learning through effective teachingstrategies, coaching, mentoring, and role modeling of professionalnursing practice.
  • Maintain compliance with TTUHSC, School of Nursing, clinicalagency, and accreditation standards and requirements.
  • Maintain records and documentation related to instruction andstudent evaluation as required.
  • Collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, students, andclinical partners.
  • Participate in faculty development and orientation activitiesas required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the academicmission of the Health Sciences Center and the School ofNursing.

  • Knowledge of contemporary nursing practice and healthcaretrends.
  • Knowledge of principles of adult learning and studentevaluation.
  • Ability to teach and supervise students in clinical andsimulation environments.
