Position Description

Employees in this classification are responsible for performing awide variety of patient care activities in a specialty orsubspecialty outpatient clinic as assigned from the resource nursepool. This job to be used in Resource Nurse pool only. Incumbentsperform a variety of general and specialized nursing duties toprovide the patient with complete evaluations. Work is performedunder the direction of a licensed (RN/LVN) nurse or physician aspart of a total health care team in providing complete evaluationsto patients.

Major/Essential Functions

• Function within the nurse’s legal scope of practice and inaccordance with the policies and procedures of the organization andpractice setting.
• In the absence of the SR Staff Nurse, RN will supervise and/ordelegate nursing care to other members of the health care teamusing evidence-based practice in accordance with departmentalstaffing model.
• Assists SR Staff Nurse with development, maintenance, revisionand evaluation of protocols and provide daily supervision of nursesand subordinates to include scheduling, activity overview and dailyduties and function.
• Reports data, identifies and reports alterations in patientresponses to assist in the identification of problems andformulation of goals outcomes and patient-centered plans of care incollaboration with patients, their families, and theinterdisciplinary health care team.
• Triage andor determines the physical and mental health status,needs, and preferences of culturally, ethnically, and sociallydiverse patients and their families based upon interpretation ofcomprehensive health assessment findings.
• Analyze assessment data to identify problems, formulategoals/outcomes, and develop plans of care for patients and theirfamilies using information from evident-based practice incollaboration with patients, their families, and theinterdisciplinary health care team.
• Refer patients and their families to resources that facilitatecontinuity of care, health promotion, maintenance andrestoration.

• Experience in reviewing patient charts for qualityindicators.

Pay Statement

Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of theindividual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiringdepartment, as well as the institutional pay plan. For additionalinformation, please reference the institutional pay plan website at https://app4.ttuhsc.edu/payplan .

Occasional Duties

• Supervise nursing team in the absence of the SR StaffNurse.
• Attend required institutional and departmental trainingsessions.
• Attend and participate in departmental meetings.
• Complete required training(s) and CEUs.
• Staff RN will be required to review patient charts and provideoutcomes for performance management, quality improvement, andrequired reporting.

Required Qualifications
