Job summary

Maryland School for the Blind is seeking an HR Training Specialist to design, coordinate, and evaluate employee training and professional development across the School. The role includes conducting needs assessments and developing programs to enhance performance, safety, and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in HR, Education, or related field is required.
• Minimum of five years of experience in staff development or training.
• Knowledge of HR practices and adult learning principles.
• Experience coordinating multiple training programs, schedules, and certifications.
• Strong planning, time management, and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• PHR/SHRM-CP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, administer, and evaluate the School's employee training and professional development programs.
• Coordinate student behavioral management and safety training programs and certification tracking.
• Lead health, safety, and emergency preparedness training including First Aid/CPR and OSHA-related requirements.
• Monitor workers' compensation claims and investigate injuries to identify corrective actions.
• Oversee New Employee Orientation, Staff Academy, and Paraeducator Academy.
• Track licensure and certification expirations and liaise with licensing agencies.
• Maintain training records and compliance documentation (OSHA, certifications).
• Coordinate Tuition Assistance and related programs.
• Collaborate with supervisors and external training providers to meet organizational goals.
