Job summary

The State of Maryland's Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services seeks an HR Generalist to administer HR programs in SPMS, spanning recruitment, employment services, classification, compensation, benefits coordination, and employee relations. Responsibilities include interpreting laws, policies, and guidelines with discretion and professional judgment.

Qualifications

• Six years of HR experience with recruitment, employment services, classification, and compensation.
• Experience in employee relations, policy interpretation, and HR program evaluation.
• Ability to manage HR processes with accuracy in a high-volume environment.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and apply SPMS HR laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
• Guide benefits enrollment and retirement administration for staff.
• Administer FMLA, leave banks, military leave, and medical absences.
• Direct and monitor interviews; onboard and orient new employees in Workday.
• Process Workday transactions for hires, promotions, transfers, and terminations.
• Provide in-person and phone support to multiple institutions and units.
