Job summary

The Louisiana Department of Health is seeking an experienced HR Supervisor to lead classification, pay, CPM, and employee relations from the Office of the Secretary's Human Resources division in East Baton Rouge Parish.

The ideal candidate brings substantial HR experience, strong judgment, and the ability to guide managers through policy and performance challenges while ensuring Civil Service compliance and data-driven decisions.

Qualifications

• Six years of human resources experience; OR
• Six years of full-time experience in any field plus three years of human resources experience; OR
• A bachelor’s degree plus three years of human resources experience; OR
• An advanced degree in human resources, business administration, public administration, industrial and organizational psychology, organizational behavior, or a Juris Doctorate plus two years of human resources experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervises HR staff responsible for classification, pay, performance management, and related HR functions.
• Reviews and evaluates position classification requests and recommends solutions in accordance with Civil Service rules and LDH policies.
• Reviews and approves pay requests, resolves pay-related issues, and coordinates requests requiring Civil Service Commission approval.
• Develops, implements, and maintains LDH’s Continuous Performance Management (CPM) program while ensuring compliance with Civil Service requirements.
• Provides guidance and consultation to managers, supervisors, and employees on HR policies, procedures, employee performance, and workplace concerns.
• Serves as a subject matter expert on FLSA requirements, conducts position reviews, and ensures compliance with federal regulations and departmental policies.
• Analyzes HR data, identifies operational issues, establishes priorities, and recommends timely solutions to support organizational goals and objectives.
