Job summary

Cemex US in Maryville, TN seeks an HR Specialist to serve as a subject matter expert on people issues, attract, develop and retain talent, and ensure compliance with HR policies and procedures and union agreements where applicable.

You will manage staffing, onboarding, background checks, employee relations, and training; supervise disciplinary actions, safety adherence, and regulatory compliance in a heavy industrial manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
• Minimum 2 years HR experience.
• Experience with union agreements is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Identifies and tracks staffing needs and fills via internal/external hiring.
• Collaborates with operations on employee relations and grievance processes.
• Manages hiring process: job descriptions, requisitions, offers, onboarding.
• Verifies backgrounds, education, and references before hires.
• Conducts exit interviews and monitors departing employees.
• Ensures compliance with company rules and government regulations.
• Coordinates training and development and retention activities.
• Disciplinary actions and termination hearings in coordination with management.
• Adheres to CEMEX, OSHA and MSHA rules; ensures safety standards.
