Position: HR Specialist
Location: Cypress, TX
Employment Type: Direct Hire
Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 / Annually DOE
Schedule: M-F (8-5:00pm)

Summary
A major focus of this role is moving candidates quickly through the hiring process by coordinating drug tests, background checks, and other pre-employment requirements. The specialist will communicate candidate clearances to field managers and help resolve issues that could delay hiring. This role will also process terminations, maintain accurate HRIS records, support weekly payroll, and serve as a link between HR, Payroll, and Operations.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
- Prepare reports such as EEO-1, BLS, TWC, and workers’ compensation reports.
- Maintain documentation for claims, audits, and employee verification.
- Respond to agency inquiries and assist with audits.
Workers’ Compensation
- Manage workers’ compensation claims and coordinate with employees, managers, medical providers, and third-party administrators.
- Track claim trends and identify ways to reduce injuries and costs.
- Ensure claims are handled promptly and according to company procedures.
Candidate Processing & Hiring Support
- Process high-volume candidates for field and operations roles.
- Coordinate and monitor drug tests and background checks.
- Follow up on missing information or delayed screenings.
- Notify field managers when candidates are cleared to start work.
- Work with recruiters, candidates, and managers to prevent hiring delays.
HRIS, Terminations & Payroll
- Process employee terminations accurately and on time.
- Review termination details, including dates, reasons, status, and final pay information.
- Partner with Payroll to ensure accurate information is available for weekly payroll.
- Maintain accurate HRIS records for new hires, employee changes, and terminations.
HR Operations & Employee Support
- Support onboarding, I-9 documentation, ADP processing, and job postings.
- Answer employee HR and workers’ compensation questions.
- Provide compassionate, solutions-focused employee support.
Requirements
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in HR operations, compliance, onboarding, candidate processing, or workers’ compensation.
- Associate’s degree or higher preferred.
- SHRM-CP or PHR certification is a plus.
- Knowledge of employment laws and regulations, including I-9, FMLA, ADA, and EEOC.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English.
- Experience using HRIS systems such as ADP Workforce.
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and Teams.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information professionally.
Preferred
- Experience in construction, utilities, field operations, high-volume hiring, or workforce onboarding.
