Job summary

City of Oakland is seeking a detail-oriented Human Resources Operations Supervisor to oversee HR data and processes across the organization. This at-will, exempt position balances hands-on technical work with supervisory responsibilities to ensure accuracy and timely HR information used for payroll and City operations.

Work in the HRM department supports recruitment, compensation, benefits, and HR operations across City departments.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in HR, business management, public administration, information systems, or related field.
• Five years of progressive HR operations, personnel administration, HRIS data management, or closely related work.
• At least one year of supervisory experience.
• Public sector experience is desirable.
• A California driver’s license may be required when travel is essential.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on HR operations work involving detailed employee, position, and personnel information.
• Supervise and review the work of assigned staff with technical guidance and feedback.
• Audit and maintain the accuracy of HR information, identify discrepancies, and coordinate corrections.
• Support accurate HR/Payroll processes by ensuring complete and timely data, and coordinate with Finance to resolve discrepancies.
• Establish and maintain effective quality-control practices, workflows, and procedures.
