Job summary

The City of Oakland seeks a detail‑oriented, hands‑on Human Resources Operations Supervisor to lead and perform HR operations ensuring accurate employee and position information across the organization. This at‑will, exempt position works within the Employment Operations Services Division of HR and partners with Finance and other City departments.

You will supervise staff, audit HR information, support HR/Payroll processes, establish quality‑control practices, and resolve discrepancies.

Qualifications

• Minimum education includes an Associate's degree in a related field.
• Progressive HR operations experience with a supervisory component is preferred.
• Experience in public sector HR is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands‑on HR operations work with detailed employee data.
• Supervise and review assigned staff; provide direction and feedback.
• Audit HR information; resolve discrepancies; coordinate corrections.
• Support HR/Payroll processes; ensure timely, accurate data across city systems.
• Establish quality‑control practices and workflows for consistent service.
• Collaborate with HR staff, Finance, and City departments on improvements.
