Job summary

Four Winds Casino and Resort in South Bend, Indiana is seeking a Human Resources Assistant to serve as a liaison between HR and employees and applicants. You will answer questions, guide onboarding, and maintain confidentiality.

The role assists the Employment Manager, handles I-9s, background checks, drug screening, and HRIS updates, while producing reports for management and supporting daily HR operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; some college preferred.
• Two to three years HR or related experience.
• Experience with full cycle onboarding (I-9 forms, background checks, drug screens, employment verification, education verification, etc.).
• Excellent communication skills.
• Computer-literate with proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel.
• Typing speed of at least 40 wpm.
• Strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Employment Manager in all aspects of the employment function.
• Serve as an HR representative across HR as needed.
• Prepare reports for Management.
• Act as the main point of contact for new hires during onboarding.
• Ensure all new hire policies meet laws and procedures.
• Submit and review online background checks for contingent staff.
• Verify I-9 documentation for new contingent staff.
• Maintain confidentiality of applicant, employee, and departmental information.
• Maintain applicant tracking system and update management on onboarding status.
• Back up the receptionist and handle mail/distribution duties.
