Job summary

AVEC seeks a Human Resources Manager to strengthen culture, modernize processes, and support a geographically dispersed workforce across Alaska. You will serve as a key partner to leadership, ensuring compliant practices while elevating the employee experience.

You will lead HR across the organization, overseeing compensation, benefits, payroll, and employee relations, with a focus on engagement, development, and strategic initiatives that align with AVEC’s mission.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field; Master's degree or HR certification preferred.
• At least 5 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, including leadership responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and HR best practices.
• Understanding of compensation, benefits, and payroll processes.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining focus on day-to-day operations and long-term improvement.
• Effective communication skills and ability to build trust across all levels of the Cooperative.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the CEO and leadership team to plan and execute strategic HR initiatives, strengthen retention, and advance employee engagement and growth.
• Guide employee relations with consistency, fairness, and accountability; support managers with performance management and disciplinary actions.
• Oversee compensation, benefits, and payroll processes; support benefit planning, renewals, and required reporting; oversee wage adjustments and payroll processing.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment requirements; research and update policies; oversee Federal contractor compliance and reporting.
• Manage day-to-day HR administration, including leave management, workers' compensation, and HR systems; leverage technology to support employees and leaders.
• Lead recruitment, onboarding, and development efforts to attract and grow talent within the Cooperative.
