Our client is a non profit organization seeking an experienced and mission-driven HR Manager to lead all human resources functions for our growing team. This role provides strategic and operational HR support, overseeing talent acquisition, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, and culture initiatives. Key Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition & Recruitment:
- Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract qualified candidates aligned with organizational values
- Post job openings, review applications, conduct initial screening, and coordinate interviews
- Manage hiring process from job requisition through onboarding
- Build relationships with community partners and educational institutions for talent pipeline development
- Create and maintain job descriptions for all positions
Employee Relations & Onboarding:
- Design and deliver comprehensive onboarding program for new employees
- Serve as primary point of contact for employee inquiries, concerns, and conflict resolution
- Maintain confidential employee records and personnel files in compliance with employment law
- Support performance management and employee development processes
- Foster positive workplace culture aligned with non-profit mission and values
- Plan and coordinate employee engagement and recognition programs
- Address personnel issues and disciplinary matters in accordance with policies
Compliance & Policy:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (FMLA, ADA, Title VII, etc.)
- Develop, implement, and maintain employee handbook and HR policies
- Maintain knowledge of non-profit employment regulations and best practices
- Support audit preparation and compliance documentation
- Coordinate workers' compensation and unemployment insurance matters
- Stay current on employment law changes and communicate impacts to leadership
Benefits Administration:
- Manage employee benefits programs (health insurance, 401(k), paid time off, etc.)
- Serve as primary contact for benefits vendors and carriers
- Process benefits enrollment and changes
- Maintain benefits documentation and compliance records
- Coordinate benefits communication and education for staff
- Analyze benefits costs and recommend improvements
Payroll & Compensation:
- Coordinate with payroll provider or manage payroll administration
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing
- Maintain compensation records and salary information confidentially
- Support budgeting and financial planning for human resources
- Evaluate compensation levels and recommend adjustments as needed
Professional Development & Training:
- Identify training and professional development needs across organization
- Coordinate staff training, workshops, and learning opportunities
- Support employee career development and advancement opportunities
- Maintain training records and certifications
Strategic HR Initiatives:
- Develop and implement HR strategic plans aligned with organizational goals
- Conduct employee surveys and analyze feedback to inform culture initiatives
- Support board compliance and governance matters related to HR
- Assist with volunteer management coordination (if applicable)
- Contribute to organizational strategic planning and decision-making
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- 3+ years of HR management or coordinator experience
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in non-profit or mission-driven organization
- Professional HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar)
- Experience with HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) or payroll software
- Knowledge of grant compliance and reporting requirements
- Familiarity with Affordable Care Act compliance for non-profits
- Experience with employee engagement and culture initiatives
- Understanding of non-profit governance and board relations
