Job summary

Cabinetworks Group in Oregon is seeking an experienced HR Manager in Manufacturing to partner with plant leadership, ensuring compliance with federal and state laws while driving a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Job Description

As the HR Manager in Manufacturing at Cabinetworks Group, you play a vital role in supporting the local HR department, ensuring adherence to policies, laws, and regulations while fostering a positive company culture. Collaborating closely with manufacturing leadership, you oversee various programs and initiatives to drive continuous improvement within the department. Your responsibilities include ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, conducting audits, providing project support, and guiding local HR staff to maintain productive and compliant work environments. Additionally, you lead investigations into complaints, manage projects, and facilitate monthly HR Manager Conference calls to provide updates on labor/employee relations. A critical aspect of this role is to spend at least 30% of your time on the production floor, engaging with employees and understanding their needs firsthand. This is a 100% onsite position at our manufacturing plant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations at all plant locations, including FMLA and workers' compensation.
  • Provide local Plant HR staff with guidance to address issues and sustain positive, productive, and compliant work environments.
  • Work with Plant HR staff in the investigation of discrimination or harassment complaints, Company policy violations, and recommend corrective action, if appropriate.
  • Manage the recruitment and selection process.
  • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.
  • Bridge management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances, or other issues.
  • Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance.
  • Conduct FLSA and HR audits as needed at plant locations.
  • Provide project support, including research, report generation, preventative labor assistance, etc.
  • Support the department during the annual budget process.
  • Provide monthly labor/employee relations updates.
  • Assess training needs to apply and monitor training programs.
  • Report to management and provide decision support through HR metrics.
  • Conduct HRIS audits as needed for the corporate headquarters.
  • Provide compliance support to the plants, including workers' compensation and FMLA.
  • Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor degree in business administration, human resources or related field.
  • 7 years related human resources experience.
  • Capable of walking 30% of the time on the shop floor.
  • Deep knowledge of HR KPIs such as turnover rate, absenteeism, labor cost, headcount, etc.
  • Working knowledge of current government regulations related to employment law including FMLA, ADA, WC, EOE, COBRA, and EEOC.
  • Proficient computer skills required, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated successful ability to build positive partnerships and work collaboratively with cross‑functional business teams.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including ability to multi‑task and prioritize workload.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
  • MBA.
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR).
  • Prior ERP experience (PeopleSoft, Oracle, SAP).
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
  • Experience with employee engagement initiatives.
  • Knowledge of safety and health regulations.
  • Experience with conflict resolution and disciplinary processes.
  • Familiarity with talent management and succession planning.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with integrity.
