Job summary

Arkansas State University in Jonesboro is seeking an Assistant Director of Human Resources to support the administration of HR programs, policies, and procedures. You will guide employee relations, leave administration, immigration compliance, performance management, and other employment-related matters, supervising 5+ HR staff.

The role collaborates with the Director of Human Resources and campus departments to ensure consistent policy application and compliance with federal/state laws.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, management, or a related field.
• Three years of progressively responsible HR experience.
• Experience handling confidential employee and employment-related matters.

Responsibilities

• Guides employee relations matters, performance concerns, workplace complaints, and disciplinary actions.
• Assists with employee relations investigations and maintains confidential documentation.
• Maintains immigration compliance by monitoring documentation and employment authorization status.
• Liaises with the University immigration attorney on employment-based immigration matters.
• Assists with visa, permanent residency, and other immigration processes.
• Interprets and applies University policies and employment laws and regulations.
• Assists with HR policy development, review, and training.
• Provides HR guidance and training to supervisors, employees, faculty, and administrators.
• Maintains confidential personnel records and prepares reports and correspondence.
• Collaborates with Payroll, Benefits, Academic Affairs, and other University offices.
• Assists the Director of Human Resources with special projects and compliance initiatives.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
